Copycat!

The Vice chairman of the 9/11 commission has said that we should go into Pakistan and get Al-Qaeda. Hmm...that sounds vaguely familiar. However, you have idiots like this who think that Al-Qaeda is merely a "boogie man" and that they are just a bunch of peace loving goat farmers from Afghanistan. They are all puppies and rainbows.

As soon as the guy starting talking about the "military industrial complex" you know he's full of whacko bullshit. The real terrorist threat is from our own country.

Yes, I'm sure we've slammed aircraft into buildings hundreds of times. I'm sure we've put bombs in nightclubs and city buses for no other reason then to kill indiscriminately. Fucking moron.

'Al-Qaeda' or 'Al-Qaeda linked' is used as a catch-all term for every terrorist, operating from Lahore to Laos. I think that the more the term is used, and the more plots it is associated with, then the stronger the term becomes, regardless of the actual physical and operational circumstances of Al Qaeda at the present time.

Al Qaeda, because its constantly being addressed as the dastardly super-villain, inevitably will be used by some terrorist groups as a banner. After all 'my enemies enemy is my friend'.

Absolutely. There are groups out there that claim to be Al-Qaeda linked simply because they pulled off the biggest terrorist attack in history.

However, that's not to say that there aren't links. Osama has opened up communications and relations to various groups around the world with similar goals, so thus, a link.

But, on the flip side, how much of a morale crusher would it be around the world to get Osama and his #2 guy (don't remember spelling of his name off the top of my head)?

I believe that this is a key goal in crushing a very real and dangerous threat to this nation (and yours). You show me Osama's head on a pike, and I'll show you George Bush's ratings jump significantly. Couple that with an end of the Iraq war, and a lot of people will be a lot less nervous and go about their daily lives.
