Democrats would have you believe that if only taxes were higher, we'd have things like Universal Health Care, Cheap medicine, Retirement accounts, and streets paved with gold.
However, across the pond, Norway has done just that, and they don't like it one bit.
The study also showed that 67 percent of the population think Norway's inheritance taxes are too high, while 63 percent think fuel taxes are too high. Norway's hefty 25 percent VAT (like a sales tax) on nearly all consumer items is considered too high by 53 percent of the population.
25% sales tax!!! In other words, that neat 80gb iPod you've had your eye on for $349.00 would end up costing you $436.25!
Let's face it, when it comes to taxes, people don't like them. They see government waste left and right and if I had to pay almost $100 in taxes for an 80gb iPod and saw the government throwing money away, I'd be pissed off too.
The economy is best when people can decide what to do with their money. They can buy that shiny new LCD monitor for their pc, or they can invest it and help grow the economy. They can put their child through college, or pay for a summer vacation to Hawaii.
The point is, is that governments are HUGE wasters of money and to trust them to spend the money wisely would just be idiotic. After all, when someone purchases something on behalf of the government, they don't bother with a whole lot of research on prices. It's not their money after all so why should they care?
