Fucked Up California Law

Ok, check this out. California's Supreme Court ruled today that you cannot seize and sell someones property until they've been convicted of the crime they are accused of. Apparently, they didn't bother to read the 4th Amendment of the Constitution:

The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.

Pretty straight forward if you ask me. Now, that in of itself wouldn't be so bad, kind of like a formal "this shouldn't have happened in the first place", but the vote for the ruling: 4-3. Three Supreme Court Justices actually voted AGAINST this idea that you can't have your property taken and sold without a conviction.

So in other words, they were ok with people getting their stuff taken and sold, even if they were acquitted at trial.

And you wonder why I'll NEVER move to California.
