Your Chance To Be Heard

I always get email from people who claim I'm wrong on this issue or that, so I offer you the soapbox: Send me an article on whatever political topic you'd like and I'll gladly post it. Now's your chance to put up or shut up. Any takers? Email me your article at the link below.

As a side note, sorry about the posts yesterday, I had a hardware failure in a work email server. People around here curl up in the fetal position if email isn't working, so I had to stay until 10pm fixing it. I should have everything back to normal here either tomorrow or Thursday.

US Deaths In Iraq Lowest In 8 months

Hmm...let's see if I can do some math here. The "surge" started in Februrary, however the guys didn't get there until months later. The death toll is at it's lowest point in 8 months, you'd swear that we were making progress in Iraq or something.

Sounds like it's "going to be a big problem" for Democrats if things continue this way.

Investigations

With the recent search/raid conducted on Senator Steven's home, I found this interesting list of lawmakers who are actively being investigated. If the allegations are true, every one of these people need to be removed from office. Running our country is too important for corruption.

Guantanamo Bay Is Better Then Freedom?

Wait, wait, wait. I thought that Guantanamo Bay was where we were torturing people, making them feel like they were drowning, burning them, treating them like animals, and this guy is actually SUING to be able to stay there instead of go home? Well either one of a couple things are happening.

1: His home country is really shitty and they will torture him.

2: His home country is really shitty and he just doesn't want to live there.

3: He's not being tortured in Guantanamo like everyone thinks happens there.

Regardless, if he's not a threat, he doesn't belong in Guantanamo. We also don't have the obligation to keep him if he's afraid of going home.

As a side note, I remember watching a show on the History Channel called "The Dark Art Of Interrogation" and in it, a US Army interrogator said that when inmates at Guantanamo were first arriving, they weren't talking, when it appeared that we were shipping them back to their home country, they were deathly afraid and were spilling their guts to talk their way out of having to go home.

This is probably a similar situation. However, I say whatever intelligence we can gather from them, go for it.

House Passes Ethics Law

Sure, it all looks good on paper, but what do you want to bet that there's ways of getting around it. Senator DeMint seems to think so:

This bill is nothing more than the status quo, allowing every chairman to decide whether to disclose earmarks or not. Senator Byrd has already ‘certified’ that he is complying with disclosure now, but an independent group, Taxpayers for Common Sense, already showed that $7.5 billion in earmarks have been undisclosed. The favor factory is still open and ready for business.

So while everyone is busy patting themselves on the back and giving the American public a smoke and mirror show, not a lot has really changed.

The only real thing that looks good is this:

Deny retirement benefits to members of Congress convicted of bribery, perjury or similar crimes.

Well that certainly looks good, I want to see them lose retirement benefits for being convicted of ANY crime (only felony) while committed when they were in office. Misdemeanors don't really count. I don't care if a member of Congress jaywalks and gets a minor conviction for it.

Democrats Really Want Defeat In Iraq

Don't believe me? Take a look at this quote: Many Democrats have anticipated that, at best, Petraeus and U.S. ambassador to Iraq Ryan Crocker would present a mixed analysis of the success of the current troop surge strategy, given continued violence in Baghdad. But of late there have been signs that the commander of U.S. forces might be preparing something more generally positive. Clyburn said that would be "a real big problem for us."

To be that brutally honest is something that you'd never expect from a Democrat, especially, the House Majority Whip. He's just confirming what I've been telling you all along: Democrats don't want victory in Iraq.

He doesn't even care what's right and wrong, he cares "what could be a big problem for US".

When You're Right You're Right

Brit Hume nailed it on the head. Democrats simply think terrorism is something they can just "live with" and that it's all a scare tactic by the Bush administration. Even with flagrant evidence like the 9/11 attacks, they simply still don't get it.

Iranian Hypocrisy

Iran's foreign ministry spokesman on Monday criticized a U.S. plan to sell state-of-the-art weapons to Saudi Arabia, saying it would undermine security in the Middle East, the state broadcasting company reported.

Mohammad Ali Hosseini's comments followed reports last week that the U.S. planned to sell Saudi Arabia an estimated $20 billion of sophisticated weaponry, including advanced air systems that would greatly enhance the striking ability of Saudi warplanes
.

Yeah, let's talk about "undermining security in the Middle East" for a minute. How about your nuclear facilities? How about your plans to buy jets from Russia? How about your leaders who call for the destruction of a neighboring country? How about your meddling in the insurgency in Iraq?

Until you deal with those issues, you can kindly go fuck yourself on the "undermining security" point you've made.

Iraqi Parliament Goes On Vacation

Well if they take a vacation, then it's only fair that our military takes a vacation right? They won't mind the guys who've been sweltering in 100+ degree heat with 60+ pounds of gear on who protect their sorry asses from taking a vacation. Hell, they earned it more then the politicians did.

I think it's HIGHLY coincidental that they are coming back to work right before the report on how things are going in September.

Am I a paranoid guy in thinking they did this to hopefully get some "bad news" to the White House and provoke us leaving? Maybe I am, but it's not without possibility.

It Begins?

IN North Waziristan, the wild border land that America hopes will be Osama Bin Laden’s graveyard, the normally busy roads are almost deserted and the fear is pervasive. Army helicopters sweep the valleys at night hunting for Al-Qaeda militants as troops and gunmen exchange artillery and rocket fire.

America and Britain regard this usually autonomous tribal area - where Bin Laden is long believed to have been hiding - as the logistics centre of Islamic terrorist attacks around the world.

President Pervez Musharraf sees it as the centre of a campaign to “Talibanise” Pakistan. Spurred on by Washington, he has abandoned a truce with Waziristan’s Islamist guerrillas and ordered his army to root them out.

So, is this a legitimate push to get rid of Al-Qaeda and move against Osama? Or is this a token advance because Musharraf is feeling the heat from us? One thing is certain, time's running out for Musharraf. If we get actionable intelligence that Osama is going to be at a place and time, you can bet your bottom dollar as long as a Republican is President, there'll be a strike called in.

Liberals Sink To A New Low

Wow, if you can't stifle what people say, go after the advertisers who support the show.

Let me explain a few things wrong with this:

Liberals love to spew off America hating, Bush bashing, liberal bullshit as loud and as often as possible. If you call them on it, they cry "Freedom of Speech!", to which they'd be correct.

However, they certainly don't like it when Fox News reports on things and takes a conservative viewpoint. They want to silence Fox News because it doesn't agree with them.

MoveOn.org is campaigning against Fox because it says the network characterizes itself as a fair news network when it consistently favors a conservative point of view, said Adam Green, the organization's spokesman.

"We're not trying to silence anybody," Green said. "Rush Limbaugh has a right to be on the air—he admits his point of view. Fox doesn't."

Yes, Fox does have the right to speak their opinion. ALL news organizations have opinion pieces like O'Reilly's show.

Do you honestly expect moveon.org to go after MSNBC or CNN for their obvious liberal slant? Oh please, that would be being fair and honest, qualities you'd never get from those people.

A little side note guys, you're going after Home Depot. Let's take a look at Home Depot's customers. Typically skilled, blue collar workers: Electricians, Plumbers, Carpenters, etc. I've been to Home Depot MANY times: I even went there this weekend to pick up parts to help a friend with some minor house stuff because he's selling his place. It's practically Republican central. Home Depot customers are people who don't mind getting their hands dirty to make things happen, qualities you won't find in any liberal.

You think Home Depot is going to stop advertising to it's core demographics? It would be like me trying to go after moveon.org's major donors. It simply isn't going to happen successfully.

Bullshit Islamophobia

I am noticing that "Islamophobia" is fast becoming the early 90's cop out of "It's because I'm a black man". The Holy Land Foundation terrorist financing trial is no exception. They are accused of funneling $12.4 million dollars to Hamas, a known terrorist organization.

Now, the only question is: Did they or did they not funnel this money to Hamas? That's the only thing on trial. It has nothing to do with "Islamophobia" or a "witch hunt" or any other bullshit reason. If you funneled money to a terrorist organization, you're going to jail.

Keep squawking about "Islamophobia" it only draws attention to yourself and will eventually show the world that you're nothing more then a guilty person trying to divert attention away from your crimes.

Even black folks eventually knew people would see through the bullshit line of "it's because I'm a black man".

Fucked Up California Law

Ok, check this out. California's Supreme Court ruled today that you cannot seize and sell someones property until they've been convicted of the crime they are accused of. Apparently, they didn't bother to read the 4th Amendment of the Constitution:

The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.

Pretty straight forward if you ask me. Now, that in of itself wouldn't be so bad, kind of like a formal "this shouldn't have happened in the first place", but the vote for the ruling: 4-3. Three Supreme Court Justices actually voted AGAINST this idea that you can't have your property taken and sold without a conviction.

So in other words, they were ok with people getting their stuff taken and sold, even if they were acquitted at trial.

And you wonder why I'll NEVER move to California.

Drunk astronauts flying the space shuttle? Wow. If it were me, I'd fire whoever was drinking and whoever green lit the launch. You're talking about endangering the lives of the crew and possibly people on the ground in the event of an emergency. You're talking about a multi-multi billion dollar space craft that you're handing the controls over to a drunk.

I certainly hope it's not true, but if it is, those responsible have some HEAVY explaining to do.

My Representative And Universal Healthcare

I got an email from my Representative today and he wrote about universal healthcare. Here's what he had to say and my reply to it:

One of the biggest issues on the minds of people in Southwest Washington is our country’s health care crisis. Nearly 47 million Americans don’t have health insurance, and of those, 9 million are children. Those who do have health insurance worry that if they lose their job, they’ll lose their coverage; or stay in a job simply to make sure they have insurance for themselves and their families. A system in which people’s only access to affordable health care is through their employer is clearly not the right answer for a sustainable health care system.

Maybe true, but we have Washington Basic Health which does provide basic health insurance to poor folks.

In 2006, approximately 61 percent of employers provided health care coverage for their employees, down eight percent from 2000. And yet, over that same time period, premiums have increased 87 percent. In 2006, Americans spent $2.2 trillion on health care.

You expect medical care to be cheap? Doctors have to go to school for several years, get a residency, and get very expensive medical malpractice insurance. On top of that, state of the art medical equipment isn't cheap either. You want a 3 dimensional picture of the human body without having to cut into someone, that costs money.

Despite our country’s leadership in medical fields, we have a health care system that is inaccessible for far too many people; is too expensive to maintain in its current structure; and, doesn’t always deliver the positive results you’d expect.

Maybe so, I have no complaints. When I was hit by the idiot driver going way too fast, I had top notch health care. But that may be because I have good health insurance and a good job that provides the insurance. How did I get that? I paid attention in school and worked my way to the top. There's no reason why anyone else can't do the same.

All of this points to the need now for comprehensive health care reform that guarantees health coverage for all Americans. Congress can act now to change the way we think about health care in this country, and we don’t have to wait on the sidelines until November 2008. I, along with my colleagues Representatives Jo Ann Emerson (MO-08), Earl Blumenauer (OR-03), and Jim Cooper (TN-05), have introduced legislation which would dramatically revamp our country’s healthcare system.

The Healthy Americans Act is the first bipartisan, comprehensive health care reform bill in more than a decade to guarantee health care coverage for all Americans.

The Healthy Americans Act would:
• Guarantee affordable, high quality, private health coverage for all Americans that can never be taken away, even if someone loses their job;

Nice in theory, but ripe for abuse and who's going to pay for it?

• Provide coverage equal to that of Members of Congress;

Oh that's going to be expensive. Just you watch.

• Gives incentives for individuals and insurers to focus on prevention, wellness, and disease management;

So we're all getting a free membership to 24 fitness?

• Require new studies and education on the comparative effectiveness of health care items to help ensure quality care at a good value, and;

You're requiring things but all those things cost money.

• Streamline reporting procedures and paperwork.

Streamlining things is nice in theory, but in practice you have to worry about things like patient privacy and not overwhelming the medical community with people who want things for free.

Through a system of tax credits and a variety of options, every American will be able to afford high-quality, private health insurance that is comparable to, or in some instances better, than what Members of Congress have. The bill protects consumers from discrimination based on health status, genetics, or age, and would allow health care plans to use financial incentives to reward beneficiaries who enroll in wellness programs, or pursue healthy lifestyles.

Now we're getting to the meat. But do tell, what's "affordable"? $100 a month? $500 a month? You have to take in account that there are people who simply don't want to put forth the effort to be healthy. That's the wonderful thing about America: It's a blank slate that you can do anything you want with. So now you're giving financial incentives to people who enroll in "wellness programs". Well who's to say that they'll stick to the program? Who's going to pay for those financial incentives?

Under the program, individuals will choose from a variety of plans offered in their state. State-based Health Help Agencies will guide individuals through the enrollment process by providing unbiased information about each health care plan to empower individuals, rather than employers, to pick the plan that best meets their needs and those of their families. For the first four years of the new system, employers who currently provide employee health insurance benefits would be required to convert their health care premiums into higher wages that employees that would then use to buy their own insurance plans.

Sounds like you're creating another bureaucracy. Plus, a lot of employers get deals on health insurance because they enroll dozens or hundreds of people at a time. You think that an individual can get the same deal? Plus, you say that employers must move the premiums towards higher wages. Well say my employer pays $500 a month towards my insurance, what's to prevent them from giving me say $450? Also, instead of giving me $500 a month, I'll be taxed on that $500 a month. So I'll see about $350-$400 of that. So already, you're screwing me out of $100-$150 a month worth of insurance. Addtionally, you add $500 a month to my paycheck, it'll bump me to another tax bracket, so I'll be losing even more money towards taxes.

Competition among health care insurance providers would help ensure low costs and higher quality care and coverage. In addition, by requiring every individual to have health insurance and encouraging healthy behaviors, taxpayers wouldn’t be required to pay the bills for expensive emergency room visits.

You really think competition means higher quality care? Have you been drinking? When you have competition, you'll see people cutting corners to save a few bucks. Plus, requiring people to have health insurance, you're taking a freedom away from them. So, if we're all paying for this new plan, how is it that taxpayers won't be required to pay the emergency room bills? You can bet your ass that you'll see a spike in people in the emergency room with the sniffles. It will be abused, mark my words.

The Healthy Americans Act is about personal responsibility. It provides dependable, affordable and quality care, and reliable service, even if an individual changes a job, loses a job, or becomes too sick to work. This proposal levels the playing field, and puts the power back in the hands of the consumer to influence the marketplace and make informed decisions.

Personal responsibility means providing for yourself. It does NOT mean making everyone else pay for you. If you lose a job, you can still have health coverage under COBRA. And if you are too sick to work, there's disability. This proposal is ripe for abuse and will only complicate matters.

The Healthy Americans Act is gaining tremendous momentum from both business leaders and Congressional representatives. I am confident that in the months ahead we will get closer to the day when every single American will have access to affordable, high quality healthcare.

While I imagine you are well meaning, your lack of details and obvious amounts of abuse that will happen under this program leads me to not want to support it. Sorry Mr. Baird, try again.

Sincerely,

Brian Baird
Member of Congress

There are documents that directly contradict Alberto Gonzales' testimony to Congress, and now Democrats are asking for a probe into perjury charges.

Even FBI Director Robert Mueller is contradicting Gonzales.

Obama Seizes Opportunity

Barack Obama has seized an opportunity to make Hillary look bad. I think he may have found the little "flip flop" that I pointed out yesterday. He even called her "Bush/Cheney lite".

"I think what is irresponsible and naive is to have authorized a war without asking how we were going to get out," Obama said. "And you know, I think Senator Clinton hasn't fully answered that issue."

Man, this is like watching two chicks duke it out. You don't really care who wins as long as it's entertaining. We're still a year and a half away and already you're starting to see the claws come out.

It also shows that Obama can throw out a punch or two. Unfortunately for him, he said this on NBC news instead of the debate that everyone was watching. What he has shown with that move is that he can't think quickly on his feet and he isn't prepared for her remarks. Neither quality is good.

Democrats Got A Pair!

Well holy crap on a stick. The House Judiciary Committee has voted to issue contempt of Congress citations against White House Chief of Staff Josh Bolten and President Bush's former legal counselor, Harriet Miers, for ignoring their subpoenas. In doing so, House lawmakers have entered choppy legal waters. In the past, Congress has issued hundreds of "contempt citations," but rarely to members of the executive branch. Here are some answers to the thorny legal questions involved, and a look at how the tug-of-war between the White House and Congress might play out.

Personally, I prefer that they issue a contempt charge if they don't get their testimony that they ask for. It shows that they have begun to grow a spine and are trying to follow the letter of the law. Now, whether or not they follow through with it is another case, but you just have to cheer at the idiotic kid down the block who keeps blabbering on about what he's going to do and never follows through with it when he finally does something.

Of course, the Constitutional legality is something that will have to be decided, but we'll find out more in the coming weeks.

Parental Responsibility And The Internet

US senators today made a bipartisan call for the universal implementation of filtering and monitoring technologies on the Internet in order to protect children at the end of a Senate hearing for which civil liberties groups were not invited.

Commerce Committee Chairman Daniel K. Inouye (D-Hawaii) and Senate Commerce, Science, and Transportation Committee Vice Chairman Ted Stevens (R-Alaska) both argued that Internet was a dangerous place where parents alone will not be able to protect their children.

Let me explain a few things wrong with this.

First off: China censors the Internet. Iran, North Korea, and most Gulf states censor the Internet. This is fucking America. NOTHING is censored on the Internet. If you want to see naked women spread across an American muscle car, you can. Want to see a 300lb woman topless? It's there too.

The Internet wasn't made for kids, so we're not going to censor it for kids. If you can't filter your Internet connection for your kids, then maybe you shouldn't be having the Internet available to your kids.

We aren't responsible for your children, YOU ARE.

While filtering and monitoring technologies help parents to screen out offensive content and to monitor their child’s online activities, the use of these technologies is far from universal and may not be fool-proof in keeping kids away from adult material," Sen. Inouye said. “In that context, we must evaluate our current efforts to combat child pornography and consider what further measures may be needed to stop the spread of such illegal material over high-speed broadband connections."

Illegal material is actively being pursued. Nothing is fool-proof. I was getting into my Dad's and my friends Dad's porn collection by the time I was 7. Everyone here has been exposed to adult material when they were younger. We all turned out fine. I'm not saying that you should actively show your kids porn, but if they do end up seeing it, it's your job as a parent to explain to them what's what. Besides, when did sex become more taboo then violence? It's ok to show a video game/tv show/movie with graphic violence, but God forbid a child should see a tit? Personally, I'd rather my child see a naked woman/man then a guy getting his head blown off. It's a lot easier to explain pussy to a young boy then it is a bullet wound and death.

"Given the increasingly important role of the Internet in education and commerce, it differs from other media like TV and cable because parents cannot prevent their children from using the Internet altogether," Sen. Stevens said. "The headlines continue to tell us of children who are victimized online. While the issues are difficult, I believe Congress has an important role to play to ensure that the protections available in other parts of our society find their way to the Internet."

Wait a damned minute here. You can ban your children from TV and cable but the Internet is something that cannot be stopped? When you ban children from TV, you don't think they aren't going over to their friends house to watch TV? The same can be said for the Internet. Children are naturally curious about everything, and if you ban or censor something, they will eventually find a way around your ban and all you'll have succeeded in doing is pissing them off and making them ashamed of their curiosity, which breeds all sorts of mental problems.

So if you can't raise your child properly, give that child up for adoption because you are an unfit parent. It's not society's job to raise your child. We didn't get to have sex with your wife, therefore we don't have to raise your kids.

Baby Boom Hits Military

Well here's the most obvious story I've ever read:

Army Spc. John Luckey and his wife, Kerry, already had five children and no plans for more when he came home from a year's duty in Iraq. But there was romance in the California air when the entire family went on a vacation to see the giant redwoods.

Army Spc. Andreina Marie Patterson, 22, holds her newborn son, Immanuel.

Nine months later, Kerry Luckey gave birth to a daughter, EmLee Rae.

Lt. Trena Buggs, a labor and delivery nurse at Blanchfield, got pregnant herself not long after her husband, a Special Forces soldier, returned from Iraq in early 2006, and she gave birth in May. She knew what to expect when the 101st Airborne came back between August and December of last year.

"We knew that any time the soldiers are deployed, we knew the one thing they liked to do best when they come home is get a little bit of loving," she said.

You mean to tell me that after a year or more in the desert being around ugly, bearded men and covered up women that a man when he comes home isn't going to want to bang the hell out of his wife/girlfriend? You mean to tell me that after a year of "Sausage-fest 2007" the guys aren't going to want a warm meal, a warm shower and a warm woman? Say it isn't so!

Pretty soon you'll start having stories on CNN on how when men return from war that they start having a better appreciation of life and become better fathers and productive members of society. Idiots.

General To Lose A Star OverTillman's Death

While I can understand that a high profile death like Pat Tillman can be a bad morale blow, the families and investigators deserve the truth.

A retired three-star general criticized for misleading investigators probing the controversial death of Cpl. Pat Tillman could be stripped of a star and face a decrease in retirement pension, Pentagon officials told CNN.

Unless the person involved was killed during a classified mission, the truth is the very least that is owed to the families. I would rather the military come to me and say "your son was killed due to friendly fire. There were numerous mistakes made and we are correcting them so it doesn't happen to any other soldier in the future. I am terribly sorry for your loss." That I can understand. I can even forgive those who killed my child if it was due to a mistake. As hard as that would be for me to swallow, the fog of war is very real and sometimes good people die.

However, you lie to me about the circumstances surrounding the death of my child, and I'll be more enraged then ever and will want to see heads roll for it. If the mission was classified, the very least you owe me is, "your child was killed during a classified mission. It was due to friendly fire. I am deeply sorry for your loss, but unfortunately, I cannot give you details beyond that because of the sensitive nature of the mission your son was on."

That I can handle. That's the truth without giving away any sensitive, classified information. That isn't what the Tillman's got. They got a lie, then a cover up to that lie. If the information was incorrect, then it was incorrect, but to lie about it after you know the truth isn't fair to those who sacrificed and paid the ultimate price to serve our country. If the military thought it was due to enemy fire and told the Tillman's that it was due to enemy fire, that's just a mistake. Had they then found out about the friendly fire afterwards, they owed it to the Tillman's to come back and say "after further investigation, we found it was due to friendly fire. I apologize for giving you wrong information, but that is what we thought had happened at that time."

Any one of those above mentioned scenarios is completely understandable and no one would have gotten as angry and rightfully so, as they are now.

China's Shortcuts

With all the Chinese goods being tainted stories around, you'd be rightfully worried about the safety of just about everything around you. China is a world superpower when it comes to manufacturing everyday items that you and I use.

The worse thing is this troubling statistic: The CPSC also said 60 percent of all recalled consumer products in the United States this year have come from China -- from toys and jewelry made with lead-based paint to small, defective space heaters that could result in fires.

Now, how do we remedy that? "Anything that does not meet our standards should not be allowed to be imported." That seems like a reasonable solution. Random testing of various products that come into the country, regardless of country of origin, would force people to shape up. Companies should demand that if a product that they subcontract out for, if it's not up to snuff, not pay for that product that was produced. In other words, if I have my product made in China for $10 per unit, and 3,000 units are found to be defective, I pay nothing.

If that doesn't shape China up for product safety, then companies will slowly start to move their businesses elsewhere. No one wants to be known for selling a defective product, and if China wants to remain an economic heavyweight, they'll start shaping up quickly, or we'll simply take our business elsewhere.

Republicans Under Investigation

Let me explain something here. I don't like crooked politicians. Democrat or Republican, if you're caught accepting bribes or not following the rules, you should be removed from office and sent to jail.

So Representative Young and Senator Stevens are under investigation for accepting bribes and other crimes. Now, the RIGHT thing to do would be for these two guys to temporarily step aside while the investigation takes it's course. If they are found to be innocent of the charges, they should be put back right where they left off. If found guilty, removed from office and sent to jail.

That way there is no chance of corruption ruining various subcommittees that each person is a part of, it will allow the public to regain the trust of Congress, and it's simply the right thing to do. If I were under investigation for crimes at my job, you can bet your ass I would be put on paid leave until they found out guilt one way or another. It's a simple matter of we entrust these people to run our nation, and if they fall victim to the lure of bribery, they don't deserve our trust or the job which we elected them to do.

Seeing things like this over and over again makes me start to support term limits on Congressional members. Hell, you could even make it fair. Pass a term limit law for both houses of Congress of say 2 or 4 terms. Any person in Congress at that time that the law is passed are "grandfathered" in. Meaning they don't get to be subjected to that term limit law. Once they are defeated in an election, die, quit, or any other reason why they would stop being a member of Congress, they are then subjected to the same term limits law that a new member joining Congress would be under.

Sounds fair right?

A Unique Spin On John Doe Lawsuits

I wrote about this before, and there's even a site claiming that the law has been passed, but House Republican leader, Rep. John Boehner of Ohio, and Rep. Peter King, a Republican of Long Island
need to be commended for sticking to their guns over this one.

It goes to show you that public outrage and a sense of what's right and wrong can sometimes persuade lawmakers into voting to protect the constituents who voted them in. I still stand by my comments from my earlier post about firing them for incompetence, because it should never have come to this.

However, if I were running against any of these guys, I'd certainly bring up their "no" vote during the campaign to show the public how incompetent they really are. Public shaming for politicians is the only way they start to "get it".

If you were elected by the public, the public is your boss. If you vote to NOT protect your boss from a lawsuit when they do the right thing and report suspicious activity, then you deserve to get fired.

Hypocrisy, Thy Name Is Lee

This is a bit of a funny story rather than a serious one. But Representative Gary Miller came to work in the Senate today in a Hawaiian shirt and slippers. Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee (D-Texas), who was presiding over the chamber at the time, to weigh in: "The chair must remind Members that the proper standard of dress in the chamber is business attire, which includes both coat and tie for gentlemen."

However, there's a picture of Lee not dressed appropriately on the site when she's at her job. Hypocrisy, yes, but nothing to get our collective panties in a bunch over. Just funny I thought. Personally, I could give a rats ass what they all wear to work as long as they got work done.

Russia Is Trying To Appease

Stating that the nuclear plant that they are building for Iran won't be operation until the end of 2008 is simply a delaying tactic while they try to come up with a plan so we don't put crippling sanctions on Iran and thwart the Russian financial dealings.

Seems rather suspect to me don't you think? Why else would they state this now? We all had concerns about the plant that they were building last year, but Russia never said a word about 2008 until now. It sounds to me like they are scrambling for more time to find a way to weasel Iran out from under the UN Security Council's sanctions and inevitably worse sanctions that will put Russia and China in a spot where they have to show their true colors.

Terrorist Dry Runs

Well of course they are conducting dry runs. Why else would someone duct tape a bit of wire to a block of cheese? However, there are laws against simulated weapons, and in my opinion, they should be charged as if the cheese was a real bomb.

Life sentences for people who conduct this kind of thing. There is simply no reason why someone would do this unless they were a nutjob or a terrorist.

Earlier this month in San Diego, California, a passenger checked a bag containing two ice packs covered in duct tape. The ice packs had clay in them instead of the normal blue gel.

So tell me why would someone have clay in the ice packs? Anyone? This passenger should be sent to prison forever for a stunt like this. It's the same thing when you threaten the President. Even if you don't mean it, the Secret Service treats it as if you were. You will be punished as if you were.

So why is it any different if someone tries to put together a "bomb" and put it through security if they were doing a dry run or not? Treat both crimes the same and give them very long prison sentences.

Sweet, Sweet Revenge

Ward Churchill, the man who called World Trade Center victims "little Eichmanns" in reference to the famous Nazi, has been finally fired. He then had the fucking gall as a typical coward to apologize later for his remarks. Here's a hint Churchill, stand by your comments, don't be a coward and take the "I apologize" route.

But he did it to himself. With college Professors, they generally have to kill someone before they can be fired. However, he did one of the worst things you can do at a university: cheat.

The university's allegations against Churchill included misrepresenting the effects of federal laws on American Indians, fabricating evidence that the Army deliberately spread smallpox to Mandan Indians in 1837, and claiming the work of a Canadian environmental group as his own.

"As much as Ward Churchill would like us to believe otherwise, today's dismissal is about his academic conduct. He has been found to have falsified facts and sources and to have outright plagiarized others' work," Udall said in a statement.

Of course, his slimy attorney wanted to put some spin on the situation:

Churchill's attorney, David Lane, said the decision was retribution for Churchill's 9/11 remarks and said he would file suit on Wednesday.

"For the public at large, the message is there will be a payback for free speech," Lane said. "It sends a message out to the academic community generally that if you stick your neck out and make politically inflammatory comments, you will be dragged through the mud for two years and you will ultimately have your tenure terminated."

Pretty hard to discount the whole plagiarism/cheating angle, when you've been caught red handed.

So Fuck You Ward. Hope you enjoy the unemployment line.

Hearts And Minds

Well according to this poll, support for Osama Bin Laden and suicide attacks have dropped drastically in the last few years.

While not the percentages I would like to see, a drop in support is a drop in support. Now let's get that number down to 0% so we can start having more and more people turn in militants and get one more step towards nabbing Osama.

The most curious statistic in this poll was Pakistan. 9 percent of Pakistanis believe suicide bombings can be justified often or sometimes, down from 33 percent in 2002 and a high of 41 percent in 2004. Other countries where support for bin Laden declined are Lebanon, Indonesia, Turkey, Pakistan and Kuwait.

Now, if Bin Laden and his idiots are indeed hiding out in Pakistan, that means that sooner or later, we'll capture him when someone gives just the right piece of intelligence. Support will dwindle, it's just a matter of time before we get them all. Let's not forget that it took 4 years to get Mir Aimal Kansi, so I imagine that it'll take a lot longer to find Bin Laden.

More Proof The Surge Is Working

Take a look at this very in depth, very insightful article from a man who's in Iraq as we speak.

This was all purely defensive. The battalion I’m embedded with here in Baghdad hasn’t suffered a single casualty – not even one soldier wounded – since they arrived in the Red Zone in January. The surge in this part of the city could not possibly be going better than it already is. Most of Graya’at’s insurgents and terrorists who haven’t yet fled are either captured, dormant, or dead.

US-Iran Meeting Gets Hot

Well what did you expect when you're dealing with a nation that's supporting the murder of your troops?

Crocker said arguments erupted when he accused Iran of providing direct support to extremist militias -- both training and actual weapons -- and that Washington had "the proof."

Qomi "took exception to that," Crocker said, adding that a "brief summary" of the evidence was provided by the United States at the talks.

"I said we are not here to prove something in a court of law. We are here to let them know we know what they are doing and it needs to stop," he said.

Tensions also spiked when the Iranians sought to "broaden the discussion," which was to be confined to Iraq.

Notice how they want to "broaden the discussion", but don't want to face the direct accusation? That's called deflection. It's a classic move when you've been caught doing something wrong red handed. The Iranians know that the evidence is mounting and that sooner or later, if they keep it up, things are going to get very ugly for them. So they decided to deflect to a different topic because they knew they were wrong and they were had.

Liberals love to tell you how horrible it would be if we attacked the "innocent" Iranians, but they can't seem to explain away the Iranian made weapons or the $10,000 sniper rifles that were ordered by the Iranian government but seemed to have found their way into the hands of insurgents.

Gonzales And Ashcroft

Attorney General Alberto Gonzales denied Tuesday that he and former White House chief of staff Andy Card tried to exploit then-Attorney General John Ashcroft's frail condition by pressuring him to recertify President Bush's intelligence-gathering program during a 2004 hospital visit.

Bullshit. This guy has lied before and he's lying now. He's even been caught lying to the same committee before, so why should we believe him now? Besides, if Ashcroft was sedated or incapacitated in any way, then unless he was there for a personal visit, why was Gonzales even there?

As a side note, Ashcroft should have known better to meet with anyone if he was under any amount of incapacitation. However, with Gonzales, this guy needs to be fired immediately. He HAS to know that his time is almost up. With Bush's second term coming to a close in a little less than a year and a half, this guy would be the first to be fired if I were President.

I need the trust of the American people to run an effective government. I need them to know that we're following the rules and will protect their Constitutional rights. When your Attorney General is questioning Habeus Corpus, he's not trustworthy and thus, needs to be fired.

The VA

I'm pissed that this even needs to be said. The Veterans Administration treatment of soldiers is appalling. Frustrated by delays in health care, injured Iraq war veterans accused VA Secretary Jim Nicholson in a lawsuit of breaking the law by denying them disability pay and mental health treatment.

However, I'm not one to point a finger without offering an idea. How's this: First off, run the VA like a business. That means cut fat out of various projects that don't benefit the soldier or the program directly.

Offer tax deductions to doctors and medical companies that provide care to veterans that are outside of the VA. In other words, if a veteran needs to see a psychologist but the wait time is too long in the VA, allow him to see what ever doctor he needs to see and give that doctor a tax deduction for treating that soldier.

That takes off the burden of overloaded medical staff that work directly for the VA.

Open up a website filled to the brim about VA benefits and information. Sort of like a "webmd.com" for the VA. Information at the fingertips of veterans is a vital tool that will help them with whatever problem they have.

Sadly, this isn't a new phenomenon. My father had a veteran friend named Mr. Bailey (no not Beetle. :) ) Mr. Bailey went to the VA a lot for various health problems (I was 5, so I just knew he was sick) and Mr. Bailey had tons of problems getting even basic things done. I innocently enough asked why we didn't go to the local hospital since I've gone there a bunch of times and when I was sick, they took care of me right away.

Mr. Bailey only said "it's more complicated then that". And that was all I knew.

These guys sacrifice everything so you and I can sleep safely in our beds and work/live and play without tyranny. The very least we can do is make sure that they get the medical care the desperately need.

United Airlines Has Record Profit

United Airlines parent company UAL Corp. reported its biggest quarterly profit in seven years Tuesday, a $274 million gain that reflected fuller planes during a busy summer travel season, cost reductions and especially strong results from its international flights.

The second-quarter results easily topped Wall Street estimates and more than doubled the company's earnings from a year ago, when it finished in the black for the first time since 2000. Its shares rose 4 percent in morning trading.

Well that's good news! So if they have a $274 million dollar quarterly profit, when can the American taxpayer expect a payback of the billions in bailout money we gave you for your 9/11 fuck up? When can we expect a little bit of "hey, thanks for being there for us when we needed you, so here's the money back now that we're back in the black"

We bailed out various airlines after 9/11 because of the financial devastation that it would have had on those industries. That was fine with me, but I consider it more of a loan, then a gift. We bailed out United and American airlines when it was painfully obvious that they were about to get sued into oblivion. The VERY least that they can do is offer to pay back at least SOMETHING when financial times are good for them. I'm not saying pay back all $274 million in profits they have, but say a nice $25 million dollar check would be nice. When they are in the black, they give the government a bit of their profits as a "thank you". When they are in the red, they get a slide....up to a point.

Had we allowed United and American airlines to be sued into oblivion, you can bet your ass that other airlines would be taking security MUCH more seriously then they do now.

Ha Ha!

Doctors in the UK have used shark skin and cow tendons to help rebuild the damage done by fire to the terrorist who rammed a jeep that was on fire into Glasgow airport.

Being burned is by far one of the most painful things you'll ever experience. Seeing the burns on this guy's body just fills me with a sense of joy that he'll be in agony for quite some time, if he even survives. Hopefully the agony goes on for quite some time, then he succumbs to infection and dies.

Careful What You Say

In the age of the Internet, information of all types are available at one's fingertips. The ability to get past information is also a nice thing to have.

Unfortunately for Hillary Clinton, this has now come to bite her in the ass:

Hillary Clinton pounced on rival Barack Obama on Monday for his willingness to meet with some troublesome world leaders during a Democratic US presidential debate starring a parade of questions posed through YouTube videos.

"Certainly, we're not going to just have our president meet with Fidel Castro and Hugo Chavez and you know, the president of North Korea, Iran and Syria, until we know better what the way forward would be," she said.

The above mentioned statement was done yesterday.

However, just a few short months ago, on April 22nd, she had this to say:

Hillary Rodham Clinton on Sunday criticized President Bush's foreign policy, and said if she were president she would do things differently, including beginning diplomatic talks with supposed enemies and sending envoys throughout the world.

"I would begin diplomatic discussions with those countries with whom we have differences, to try to figure out what is the depth of those differences," said Clinton, who spoke to about 1,000 people at Luther College in Decorah in northeastern Iowa
.

"I think it is a terrible mistake for our president to say he will not talk with bad people. You don't make peace with your friends -- you have to do the hard work of dealing with people you don't agree with," said Clinton, who is seeking the Democratic presidential nomination.

Opening talks with other countries doesn't mean the U.S. won't defend its interests whenever necessary, she said, "but what it means is that we should discuss other routes before we decide we're going to pursue military options.

"We cannot provide the leadership we need unless we are willing to try engage the other countries," she said.

So in other words, she'll say or do anything that gives her the image of being the right person for the job. Here's a hint Hillary, if you bash Bush for something, you can't turn around and bash someone else for saying the exact same thing you did just 3 MONTHS ago. It's called hypocrisy.

Liberals Heads About To Explode

Look out, liberals head's are about to explode here. The "surge" in Iraq is working and Al-Qaeda are on the run. There are even members of Al-Qaeda turning against the militant group because of brutal tactics.

Fed up with being part of a group that cuts off a person’s face with piano wire to teach others a lesson, dozens of low-level members of al-Qaeda in Iraq are daring to become informants for the US military in a hostile Baghdad neighbourhood.

The ground-breaking move in Doura is part of a wider trend that has started in other al-Qaeda hotspots across the country and in which Sunni insurgent groups and tribal sheikhs have stood together with the coalition against the extremist movement.

“They are turning. We are talking to people who we believe have worked for al-Qaeda in Iraq and want to reconcile and have peace,” said Colonel Ricky Gibbs, commander of the 4th Brigade, 1st Infantry Division, which oversees the area.

So, you mean to tell me that adding additional troops helped the security situation in Iraq? You mean to tell me that military commanders and President Bush were right? It certainly appears so. Liberal head's are swelling right about now.

He gave us dates, places and names and who did what,” Lieutenant Danly said. When asked why he was being so forthcoming, the man said: “Because I am sick of it and I hate them, and I am done.”

Working with insurgents – even those who claim to have switched sides – is a leap of faith for both sides. Every informant who visits Forward Operating Base Falcon, a vast military camp on the southern outskirts of Baghdad, is blindfolded when brought in and out to avoid gleaning any information about his surroundings.

The risk sometimes pays off. A recent tip-off led to the fatal shooting of Abu Kaldoun, one of three senior al-Qaeda leaders in Doura, during a US raid last week. “He was turned in by one of his own,” Colonel Michael said.

Well we certainly must have tortured....nope...damn...another liberal argument shot down. Even lowly Al-Qaeda members are seeing that American's are the good guys and that we don't use brutal tactics against civilians or murder children.

This is what you don't hear on the front page of CNN. This is what is REALLY happening in Iraq. Our guys and girls in uniform are "winning hearts and minds" by keeping civilians safe, capturing or killing bad guys, and helping out where ever they can.

So, these are the types of soldiers that Daily Kos idiots don't support. This is the situation that they want to leave the Iraqi's to. With Al-Qaeda on the run and the civilian population finally starting to come around, they want us to pack up and leave these innocent people to the wolves. Shame on them for wanting to allow that to happen.

Chavez Worshipers

So let me ask all you liberals something. If Hugo Chavez is so great, why is he threatening to expel ANYONE who dares criticize him? Isn't that something the "fascists" do? Isn't that something Evil George Hilter would do?

Hmm...you'd think that they wouldn't be so nice to a guy who's strong arming people into selling off their foreign investments, threatening to take profits of companies, and expelling people from the country, but liberals have a way of surprising us all the time.

Funny Timing

You know it's awfully funny when public humility actually makes things happen rather then a feeling of what's right and wrong.

The article I wrote earlier today about the Sky Harbor airport has now gotten the attention of those higher ups and the Security Administrator for that airport has been put on leave.

I hate to see a guy lose his job, but you have to understand the severity of the situation. This is literally a life and death type of situation and if you can't handle the job, step aside and let someone who can in.

Just a little personal responsibility would make Al-Qaeda's job a LOT harder.

Travis
travis@rightwinglunatic.com

Equal Treatment

Everyone knows around here that I don't care if gay folks get married. It's simply not my business. However, with as fucked up as Californian law is, I would NEVER move there or get married there. Here's a prime example:

Ron Garber knew his former wife was living with another woman — and had taken her last name — when he agreed to pay her $1,250 a month in alimony.

What he didn't know was that the two women had registered with the state as domestic partners under a law that was supposed to mirror marriage law, Garber said.

State marriage laws say that alimony ends when the former spouse remarries, and Garber reasons he should be off the hook, given that domestic partnership is akin to marriage.

Mr. Garber is right. His wife was living with another woman, TOOK HER LAST NAME, and even registered as "domestic partners". But alas, a judge ruled against him:

But an Orange County judge has decided that registered partnership is cohabitation, not marriage, and that Garber must pay.

"This is not about gay or lesbian," Garber said. "This is about the law being fair."

Exactly right. If his wife had gone off with another man and she took his last name, then he would be off the hook for the alimony. So why is it any different because she went off with another woman? Gay people want equal treatment, and I'm all for that. But with equal treatment comes equal ups and downs, and this woman took the last name of her girlfriend/wife and now she still wants the $1,250 a month? That's greed on a very high level. It's wanting your cake and eating it too.

As a side note, let's talk about alimony. Why is it fair for someone to bust their ass and provide a good living to his/her family and then have to pay that other person a monthly amount of money to do nothing? For example, let's say a guy runs a small shop that becomes successful. Regardless of who left whom, the shop should either be sold and the profits split in half, or future profits will be split in half.

How often to you hear about men getting alimony? Almost never. The reason is that judges simply feel that a man can go out and get a job and that's that. They don't have the same reasoning when it comes to women. They figure the poor woman was just being a dutiful wife and the evil man ran off with his secretary. I've seen it time and time again.

If you want to fix these screwed up laws, you can mirror Washington state's law. Split everything down the middle that you two made while you were married. That's it. She comes into the marriage with a paid off home? She leaves the marriage with the same paid off home? Starting off life together? Split it down the middle when divorce city rolls down.

It's simple and it's fair, regardless of sexual orientation or who left or why. No alimony, fair child support, and nothing else.

European Backbone

I must admit that when the new British Prime Minister Brown took office, I was worried he might start to act a bit on the spineless side when it came to dealing with Iran like so many other European leaders have.

But alas, he's set my mind at ease a little bit.

British Prime Minister Gordon Brown said on Monday he would not rule out military action against Iran, but believed a policy of sanctions could still persuade Tehran to drop its disputed nuclear program.

Look, we'd all like Iran to stop their nuclear program, stop supporting Hezbollah, and be happy sunshine pro-American, but it's very unlikely to happen. However, when it comes to actually DOING something about it, it's nice to know that there are leaders out there who are willing to take action instead of burying their heads in the sand.

Some People Never Learn

Let me explain a few things about September 11th. We were caught with our pants down. Period. Airport screeners are under a lot of stress, and sometimes, because they are human, mistakes are made and when those mistakes are exploited, people die.

However, when people don't make an effort to secure our airports, you get blood boiling stories like this one.

Security checkpoints are just part of travel these days. They're supposed to keep us safe, so we use them - but not all of us and not all the time.

We've discovered a 4.5 hour time frame each night when virtually anything can be brought into the secure side of Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport. There's no metal detector, no X-ray machine, and it's apparently not a problem.

Do you have any idea of the amount of damage I could cause with a 4 and a half hour window? Bombs could be placed anywhere, weapons for hijackers could be placed on aircraft, just name it and it could possibly happen. Hell in 4 1/2 hours, you could remove half the bolts holding on an airplane wing and watch it from a distance when the wing failed and everyone on board dies.

It's not a fucking joke here people. These are real threats from real people and if you don't tighten up your security, any one of the above mentioned threats could become a reality. The September 11th attacks started at Boston's Logan Airport. A MAJOR international airport. This is Sky Harbor Airport in Phoenix. If Al-Qaeda can slip through Logan, they sure as hell can slip through Sky Harbor with a 4 1/2 HOUR FUCKING WINDOW.

Get on the ball people, or start sending people to jail for attempted negligent homicide.

"Killitary" Story Gets Better

Oh God it's almost orgasmic the way that liberals backpedal when confronted by something that everyone already knows. Now they are backpedaling so fast I think they may put the Earth's rotation off kilter.

Here's what the author had to say when confronted about his article: "The piece was completely misinterpreted by the readers," he says. "I don't know if that's because I did a bad job writing it? ... My piece was pro-soldier all the way."

Of course it is. I mean with comments like "When it comes to training killing machines, the military really does create "an Army of one." who wouldn't think it was "pro-soldier"?

What's even better? Take a peek:

Mitchell says he may decide to republish the piece on his blog, but is weighing the effect of all the negative attention on his wife, who works on a military base, and their young daughter. "I have to weigh my family's stress level versus how necessary is it to have that piece up," he writes in a follow-up e-mail.

Wouldn't be that your wife is now going to have to deal with the bullshit you caused at work would it? Good idea idiot, insult the people she works with by accusing them of being serial killers and worse. I'm sure that will go over very well.

Markos Moulitsas, the blogger behind Daily Kos, responded to our request for comment. "There are almost 1,000 diaries written every single day on Daily Kos," he writes. "I don't keep track of all of them."

Well idiot, don't you think you OUGHT to keep track of them? Or at the very least have some kind of filter in place before an article gets posted? It is YOUR site after all with YOUR name on it. If you can't be bothered to check on the integrity of things that are going on on your site, you deserve the reputation that you gather from such incompetent negligence.

Now, on the heels of that, you have another person on Dailykos DOING THE EXACT SAME THING:

But do I still support the individual men and women who have given so much to serve their country?

No. I think they’re a bunch of idiots. I also think they’re morally retarded. Because they sign a contract that says they will kill whoever you tell me to kill. And that is morally retarded.

So to sum up, I don’t like our troops, I don’t like what they’re doing, I don’t like their fat, whining families, and yet, I support them. Thank God I live in a free country. Thank You.

There you have it folks. His idea of "support" is calling names and telling them that their families are "whining". If that's his idea of "support" I say tell him to go fuck himself.

UN Backbone

Wasn't the UN supposed to make sure that there was peace when Hezbollah and Israel went to war? Well I guess that means that the UN's definition of "peace" is "go ahead and rearm yourself, you terrrorist group you".

So what does that say about the UN? It says that it's spineless when it comes to defusing situations where real leadership is required. If the UN cannot or will not act against obvious threats to peace, then it's high time we got someone who can.

Keith Olbermann Is An Easy Target

God how I love this man. He makes my job so much easier! So we all have heard about the Pentagon Undersecretary Eric Edelman letter slamming Hillary Clinton about her comments and how they are feeding enemy propaganda. To tell you the truth, I agree with Mr. Edelman. While it's perfectly fine to ask questions about our departure from Iraq, doing so in such an inflammatory and public way only feeds enemy propaganda. Had Hillary done so quietly and face to face, we probably wouldn't have the firestorm we have today.

Regardless, Keith Olbermann is doing the EXACT thing I've been warning you all about for years: Blaming absolutely EVERYTHING that happens on President Bush. Here's a letter from the Undersecretary of Defense and yet, somehow it's President Bush's fault. Keith barely mentions this fact in his article.

And the accusation of spreading “enemy propaganda that the United States will abandon its allies in Iraq, much as we are perceived to have done in Vietnam, Lebanon and Somalia” might be some day atoned for, if we all didn’t know — you included, and your generals and the Iraqis — that we are leaving Iraq, and sooner rather than later, and we are doing it even if to do so requires, first, that you must be impeached and removed as president of the United States, sooner rather than later.

Put yourself in the Iraqi leader's shoes. If you're struggling to overcome tons of problems such as corruption, rebuilding basic services, and such, and then the US is threatening to leave, wouldn't you think you were being abandoned?

You have set this government at war against its own people and then blamed those very people when they say, “Enough.”

And thus it crystallizes, Mr. Bush.

....This, sir, is your war.

Umm..No it isn't. It's OUR war.

Sen. Clinton has reinforced enemy propaganda?

Yes, she has. Al-Qaeda's #2 has mentioned in one of his videos that Americans are only concerned about looking for a way out and he's using that against us.

Made it impossible for you to get your ego-driven, blood-steeped win in Iraq?

Then take it into your own hands, Mr. Bush.

Go to Baghdad now and fulfill, finally, your military service obligations.

Go there and fight, your war. Yourself.

Well if that's the case Keith, when can we all expect to see you pick up a weapon and a uniform and head to Afghanistan? You are still for getting Osama Bin Laden and his guys right? The ones who REALLY DID ATTACK US on 9/11. If you want to call out Bush for his lack of picking up a weapon for Iraq, then it's only fair to call YOU out for not doing the same in Afghanistan.

So when's that going to happen Keith? Shall I call my recruiter friend to let him know you're coming in? I'm sure he'd love to chat with you.

Take a gander at this. Over at the Daily Kos, one of the biggest left wing blogs out there, there WAS an article titled: Killitary: How America's Armed Forces Create Serial Killers and Mass Murderers.

My questions is, why was this article pulled? I'll tell you why. Because liberals don't want their true colors showing. They all put out the usual "support our troops" line of bullshit, but then they come out and write articles like this one. Why else pull the article? EVERY article I write, I post and leave up forever. To do any less would be dishonest to my readers.

So the next time you take a look at Daily Kos, ask yourself: Am I getting their true feelings and the whole story? Well with this, example, probably not.

Democrats Are Wrong About Iraq

I've beaten this dead horse more times then I can count. However, Let's just take a peek at what's being said by the Generals on the ground:

If the U.S. troop buildup in Iraq is reversed before the summer of the military will risk giving up the security gains it has achieved at a cost of hundreds of American lives over the past six months, the commander of U.S. forces south of Baghdad said Friday. Maj. Gen. Rick Lynch, commander of the 3rd Infantry Division, mentioned none of the proposals in Congress for beginning to withdraw U.S. troops as soon as this fall. But he made clear in an interview that in his area of responsibility south of Baghdad, it will take many more months to consolidate recent gains. "It's going to take through (this) summer, into the fall, to defeat the extremists in my battle space, and it's going to take me into next spring and summer to generate this sustained security presence," he said, referring to an Iraqi capability to hold gains made by U.S. forces.

Lynch said that Iraqi security forces are not close to being ready to take over for the American troops. So if the extra troops that were brought in this year are to be sent home in coming months, the insurgents - both Sunni and Shiite extremist groups - will regain control, he said.

"To me, it would be wrong to take ground from the enemy at a cost - I've lost 80 soldiers under my command—56 of those since the fourth of April - it would be wrong to have fought and won that terrain, only to turn around and give it back," he said in an interview with two reporters who traveled with him by helicopter to visit troops south and west of Baghdad.

He said there is a substantial risk that al-Qaida in Iraq, a mostly Iraqi Sunni extremist group, will try to launch a mass-casualty attack on one of the 29 small U.S. patrol bases south of Baghdad in hopes of influencing the political debate in Washington on ending the war.

Worse for Democrats, is the Pentagon is telling you what I've told you all along: Talk of time lines and withdrawal is feeding enemy propaganda.

"Premature and public discussion of the withdrawal of U.S. forces from Iraq reinforces enemy propaganda that the United States will abandon its allies in Iraq, much as we are perceived to have done in Vietnam, Lebanon and Somalia," Edelman wrote in the July 16 letter.

"Such talk understandably unnerves the very same Iraqi allies we are asking to assume enormous personal risks," he added.

See what I mean?

Republican Outburst

Here's a difference between adults and Cynthia McKinney. We've all had outbursts where we've said or done something we later regret. A lot of times, it takes us several hours or even a day to calm down. Representative Christopher Shays got into an altercation with a Capitol hill officer and then apologized when he realized he was wrong.

Cynthia McKinney didn't do that. Instead, she tried to blame it on race, sexism and other bullshit reasons why she was being asked to come back to see the officer. What does she do in response? She slugs the officer in the chest. Then she has the nerve to bring out all sorts bullshit artists like Danny Glover and Harry Belefonte who all claimed it was a black/white issue.

Shays apologized for his behavior and took responsibility for it. Now, if he had slugged the officer, he should go to jail and be removed from office. The article says that he reached for the officers name tag, however you simply don't touch police officers. They have a tendency to kick your ass for doing that. Personally, I'd LOVE to see a cop beat down a politician who's acting all uppity, but it probably won't happen in my lifetime.

Regardless, my point is, is that Shay didn't turn it into a "it's because I'm a black person" bullshit ruse like everyone knew McKinney did. Let's face facts here people, when you say "it's because I'm black", it's essentially crying wolf. Sooner or later, people are going to stop listening to your racist complaints and then when a REAL racist event happens, people are going to think you're full of shit.

Bush Signs Order Forbidding Torture

I think this mainly has to do with recent court cases more than actual feelings of right and wrong. Personally, I'd gladly peel the skin off of someone if they knew something that would save American lives. But I'm very black and white on that kind of issue.

However, I do feel better knowing that the CIA is doing everything in it's power to thwart attacks against the US and our interests. It's very comforting to know that there are people out there willing to put the squeeze on someone just to make it so you can sleep at night safely.

Of course, one man's "torture" is another man's "technique". Sleep deprivation, extreme temperatures, uncomfortable positioning, loud music, even subliminal messaging are all legit techniques in my book. Hell, even waterboarding make Khalid give up his terrorist cohorts within minutes. I know of not one case where waterboarding killed someone, so it's a legit technique to me as well.

However, there are others that claim that the only thing that's acceptable is simply asking nicely. Now, that's a start, however, I only ask a question twice. Third time, you're getting the techniques above until you give me the answers I'm looking for, not the answers I want to hear. Lie to me and you'll live the rest of your life dealing with my above mentioned techniques. It would be in your best interests to answer me truthfully the first time, otherwise, waking up in the morning in 40 degree temperatures does not make for a comfortable living. Hell, I'll even warn you about it. If you tell me the truth, your life will be comfortable. Lie to me and X will happen next.

The Luckiest Marine Alive

Cpl. Trent D. Thomas was found guilty Wednesday of kidnapping and conspiracy to commit several offenses -- including murder, larceny, housebreaking, kidnapping, and making false official statements -- for his involvement in the April 2006 death in Hamdaniya, Iraq.

Thomas will be demoted to the rank of entry-level private and will receive a bad-conduct discharge.

Conspiracy to commit murder, larceny, housebreaking, kidnapping, and making false official statements and he didn't get a day of jail time. I don't know how military justice works, but that seems awfully light in view of the charges against this Marine. While the article is a bit lacking in details, I just would be very surprised if this wasn't very exceptional sentence for whatever reason. Normally, I would imagine that any Marine convicted of such charges would get a lot of jail time. Are there any Marines out there with knowledge of this type of thing to set us all hip?

Salazar (D-CO)
Sanders (I-VT)
Stabenow (D-MI)
Tester (D-MT)
Webb (D-VA)
Whitehouse (D-RI)
Wyden (D-OR)

Take a good look at the above Senators. These people voted NO on an amendment that would grant people immunity from lawsuits if they in good faith report suspicious activity.

I'll give 100-1 odds that their excuse will be "racial profiling". It's history repeating itself. Actor James Woods reported suspicious activity and the FAA never bothered to follow up on his reporting and some of the people he saw ended up slamming airplanes into various things on 9/11.

Wake the fuck up people, these people in power who voted to STRIP YOU OF PROTECTION don't deserve to keep their jobs. Would you want a cop to be on the job if he didn't feel like patrolling a particular neighborhood?

Let's take a look at some quick facts here:

No Republican voted NO. That tells you something right there. It tells you that each Republican in the Senate "gets it" and understands the threat. Terrorists will either attack us, or sue us, which is what the "flying imams" are doing right now. You know who's name voted YES that shocked the fuck out of me? Hillary Clinton. HILLARY FUCKING CLINTON gets it. I feel almost dirty for agreeing with her 100% on this. But when you're right, you're right, regardless of what side of politics you're on.

Both of my Senators voted NO. They are getting a phone call about this in a little bit. What they are doing is stripping out a layer of protection against terrorist attacks: The general public. No one is going to report suspicious activity if they think they are going to be sued if they are wrong.

If I am reported to be acting suspiciously, and I end up missing my flight. Here's what I expect to happen once they see that I'm not a terrorist: A free flight anywhere in the world I want, a written apology, and a private jet to my original destination. That is fair compensation if I am detained falsely. I don't deserve 5 million dollars because my feelings were hurt, I don't get the right to cry out how it's "white guy phobia" or any other bullshit excuse that you're seeing professional whiners play out in the media.

Security is a deadly serious game when it comes to what basically is a flying missile filled with highly combustible jet fuel and enough kinetic energy to knock down buildings. I would rather they err on the side of caution rather than us watch their screwup on CNN.

One last thing though. Let's call out Barack Obama. He didn't vote on this resolution. I think it's either a calculated move by his part to avoid going on record against terrorism and protecting the American public, OR he's too busy running for President to do his fucking job.

That allows him to take any position that he likes, depending on how the wind blows. If it's an popular vote, then he'll say he was too busy running for President. If it's an unpopular vote, he'll say he was abstaining in protest. Either way doesn't speak well for him as a leader. As a leader, you need to make a stand on all issues and be there to actually do your job.

So, does this prove my point that he's all style and no substance? It certainly appears that way.

So, next time you're in an airport and see something suspicious, you have to ask yourself something: Do I do what's right and possibly save hundreds or thousands of peoples lives? Or do I keep quiet because I don't want to get sued? A real man/woman knows the answer to that question. Here's a hint: If you're confused as to how to answer, you're a coward.
