This story is what I would normally expect from the Russians in regard to Iran, however there was one statement that was made that twists this into something a lot more favorable towards us.
After delivery of the first shipment of fuel, Russia said Iran no longer needed to pursue its own uranium enrichment, a message repeated by US President George W. Bush.
Tehran has so far defied successive UN Security Council ultimatums to suspend enrichment prompting two sets of UN sanctions.
The six major powers, the five veto-wielding permanent members of the Security Council -- Britain, China, France, Russia and the United States -- plus Germany drew up a new text on Tuesday to put before the council.
The contents of the text agreed by the foreign ministers of the so called 5+1 were not released.
In other words, Iran has now painted itself into a corner. If they continue enrichment, they will have shown their hand and we will all know that they were after nuclear weapons after all and were just lying about nuclear power to cover it up. However, if they stop enrichment, then it will give us one of the key demands we've been asking for.
It's really win-win here. China and Russia will not be able to ignore them enriching uranium while receiving nuclear material from Russia. It takes the wind out of their sails completely. Or Israel will just bomb the hell out of them. Stay tuned.
