Russia: Choose Us Or Them

Russia pressed the United States on Wednesday to choose between "a real partnership" with Moscow or an "illusory" relationship with U.S. ally Georgia.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov on Wednesday says the United States should choose sides.

Washington said it's sticking with Georgia.

"As to choosing, the United States has made very clear that it is standing by the democratically elected government of Georgia," Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice said Wednesday.

Wow, I'm actually shocked that people in Washington agree with me on this one.  Russia is only interested in regaining it's lost empire.  It's not in the United States' interest to allow that to happen, so a hearty "screw off" it a welcome breath of fresh air.

With Russia's past of using oil exports as a political weapon, we can't afford for them to regain their foothold on the world stage.  Besides, why turn our backs on a valuable ally just to appease the Russians, who'll do or say anything they can to overcome us?
