If you want something done right

You have to do it yourself.

I keep seeing time and time again, people in government making stupid mistakes and/or spending money freely, when it should be saved for a rainy day.

For example, this story:

Yes, the city of Portland, Or. wants to sell their parking meters to a Canadian company for $9.4 million and lease them back for a cost of $12 million.

I'm not making this shit up folks, there really are people THAT dumb in politics.  Of course, you already knew that when I point out idiots all the time here.

So, that gets to my greater point.  I've been thinking of running for office for a while now, and I think I'm going to give it a shot.  I'm going to see what's out there in my community and run for office.  I don't know what's out there at the moment, and I don't know how successful I'll be, but like my grandfather always said: "If you want something done right, you have to do it yourself".

And since it's blatantly obvious that the current crop of politicians can't do it right, looks like I'll have to step up to the plate.
