As if officers have enough problems dealing with a suspected murderer holed up in an abandoned building, now they have to deal with almost 100 people pelting them with rocks. This would have been a perfect example of an appropriate use of the military's "pain beam". Basically it's a microwave gun that makes a person feel like they are being burned without actual physical damage or permanent scarring. The gun is still a bit large for officer use, but I think it would have been appropriate for these people to start getting hit with beanbag shells and pepper spray for their abuse of officers. They are really lucky they weren't arrested or shot.
