Well if they shot at Iraqi civilians and without warning, then yes, they do deserve to face murder charges. However, what about earlier reports by civilians that Blackwater folks were fired upon first? Where are they?
However, the article doesn't even mention these eyewitness accounts. Everyone deserves a fair trial (Except Al-Qaeda members), and if there are eyewitnesses that say that the contractors were fired upon first, then their return fire would be completely justified.
However, it seems like CNN is gladly throwing these guys under the proverbial bus without doing an inkling of investigation.

Yeah, guess blackwater just wanted to kill someone that day, they've been in iraq for over 4 years now but that day they wanted to kill 17 innocent muslims... Everytime we bomb a building Iraqi officials claim women and children were killed. I'm not doubting that there is collateral damage but everyone likes to paint the picture that soldiers like to kill innocent muslims.
Iraqi officials also won't kick out Blackwater. Sure they save face by saying this stuff in the paper but when it comes down to facts Blackwater defends those very people. Obviously no one knows what goes on behind closed doors but I can assume many Iraqi officials know that Blackwater can't leave and won't let them.
Blackwater didnt just kill people on THAT day, read the reports by our senate, there have been numerous other incidents such as this albeit unreported by Blackwater!. About "blackwater wont and cant leave", this is such a load of BS...I am sure Bush and his cronies and the US army are going to be relieved of this illegal occupation with or without oil soon enough. America will have to find other alternatives for energy and YES stay out of other countries and killing innocent civilians for OIL not democracy....
That's a pretty broad brush you're painting with John. So, would you also paint others with that brush as well?
Do all Muslims deserve to be treated like terrorists? Do all black folks love watermelon? Do all white people conspire to keep Mexican's down?
No of course not, but there are examples within each of those groups of people that show those qualities.
Let me ask you this John, if all our wars in the Middle East were about Oil, why not keep the oil during the first Gulf War? I remember vividly bumper stickers that said "no blood for oil" back in 1990-1991.
However, I do agree with you that we need to find an alternative source of energy. Only because I don't like being treated the way we've been treated by OPEC. Raise your rates on a commodity to record levels for no apparent reason and all of a sudden, you'll find that your product becomes worthless once a viable alternative comes around.
Microsoft is finding this out with Vista and the rise of Ubuntu Linux as we speak.
