Leak Severed a Link to Al-Qaeda's Secrets

A small private intelligence company that monitors Islamic terrorist groups obtained a new Osama bin Laden video ahead of its official release last month, and around 10 a.m. on Sept. 7, it notified the Bush administration of its secret acquisition. It gave two senior officials access on the condition that the officials not reveal they had it until the al-Qaeda release.

Within 20 minutes, a range of intelligence agencies had begun downloading it from the company's Web site.

By midafternoon that day, the video and a transcript of its audio track had been leaked from within the Bush administration to cable television news and broadcast worldwide.

The founder of the company, the SITE Intelligence Group, says this premature disclosure tipped al-Qaeda to a security breach and destroyed a years-long surveillance operation that the company has used to intercept and pass along secret messages, videos and advance warnings of suicide bombings from the terrorist group's communications network.

This is completely unacceptable.  The level of incompetence here is astounding.  Leaking an Osama video before it's released has GOT to be known to let them know we're on to them.  Also, who the FUCK leaked it?

I want a name.  I want his or her ass in jail.  I want them publicly shamed for the extreme lack of seriousness when it comes to fighting a group that killed 3,000 of my fellow countrymen.  If it's a public official, I want them impeached or fired.

"Techniques that took years to develop are now ineffective and worthless," said Rita Katz, the firm's 44-year-old founder, who has garnered wide attention by publicizing statements and videos from extremist chat rooms and Web sites, while attracting controversy over the secrecy of SITE's methodology.

I don't give two shits about their methodologies, I want Osama's head in a box.  I want Al-Qaeda decimated.  This isn't about politics, this is about doing the right thing and if someone on my side of the political aisle did this, then I have no problem feeding them to the wolves.

They deserve whatever fate they get.

To the media that reported this?  Thanks a lot.  Now everyone knows we're looking into their websites and they'll be more careful next time.  Sure, the cat's out of the bag now, but sometimes sitting on a story is the best thing to do.

As a side note, I'd like to thank SITE for their efforts in bringing down Al-Qaeda.  Maybe I can get a part time job with them.  I'd love to help out in that realm.  :)
