Democratic Concessions Are Expected on Wiretapping - New York Times

Wait, I thought the Democrats were going to only agree to this if they could make massive changes?

Two months after vowing to roll back broad new wiretapping powers won by the Bush administration, Congressional Democrats appear ready to make concessions that could extend some of the key powers granted to the National Security Agency.

Bush administration officials say they are confident they will win approval of the broadened wiretapping authority that they secured temporarily in August as Congress rushed toward recess, and some Democratic officials admit that they may not come up with the votes to rein in the administration.

So you mean to tell me that Democrats lied to the American people about getting the Bush administration to ease off of spying on Americans?

As the debate over the N.S.A.’s wiretapping powers begins anew this week, the emerging legislation reflects the political reality confronting the Democrats. While they are willing to oppose the White House on the conduct of the war in Iraq, they remain nervous that they will be labeled as soft on terrorism if they insist on strict curbs on intelligence gathering.

Oh you guys have earned that reputation and label LONG before this debate.  With your lack of direction, your consistent appeasement of any direct opposition, and lack of the intestinal fortitude, you guys have well deserved the label of being "soft" on terrorism.

I mean if Nancy Pelosi wants to throw in the towel on Iraq, do any Democrats out there actually believe that she'll accomplish what she said she would on the NSA's spying on Americans?

During the 2004 and 2006 elections, Democrats kept saying "elect us, we'll change the world and make everything right again".  Well not enough people John Kerry during the 2004 Presidential election, so Democrats lost.  However, during the 2006 elections, they won and they won big.

So where's the campaign promises that they made to the American public?  They literally have accomplished ONE of those goals;  raise the minimum wage.  And even then they had to tack it to a military spending bill.

So why should the American public listen to Clinton, Obama, and Edwards when they say "elect me, I'll change the world and make everything right again"?  People absolutely HATE Hillary and it certainly appears that she'll be the Democratic nominee.  If that's the case, I expect Hillary to lose in a big way.
