John Edwards Wants To Tax The Successful

John Edwards would love to have you believe that universal health care is a doable program and will allow ordinary American's the ability to get decent health care for nothing. Even the dumbest economics student can tell you that someone, somewhere is going to have to pay for that. Well that "someone" is going to be the rich and the corporations if he has his way. He's even supporting the idea of taxing "excessive profits".

What that means is say you come up with an idea, patent it, and make a killing off of it. John Edwards wants to take your "excessive profits" and GIVE it to universal health care. Who defines what is "excessive profits"? He doesn't say.

Do you think that companies that are taxed for having "excessive profits" are going to just eat that cost? They are going to pass that cost down to you and me. We will pay for it with higher gas prices, higher rent, higher groceries cost, higher everything.

Edwards said his plan to provide universal health coverage would cost $90 billion to $120 billion a year.

Let's break that cost down. Say it's on the low end and the cost will be $90 billion a year. There are approximately 300 million people in the US. That breaks down to $300 per person per year. Got a wife and 3 kids? That's $1500 a year in EXTRA costs to you. Homeless guy who doesn't want to get a job, you'll be paying for him too.

We live in a Republic, not a Socialist state. I don't see why I have to get up every morning at 6 am and bust my ass and then turn around and pay for someone who doesn't want to do that. How is that fair to me? How is that fair to my wife? How is that fair to YOU?
