What Democrats Think Of Your Money

House Democrats are proposing a tax surcharge on millionaires to pay
for a big increase in education benefits for veterans of the war in
Iraq, lawmakers said Tuesday.

The
plan, if accepted by rank-and-file Democrats, would clear the way for a
vote Thursday on a long-stalled war funding bill that would pay for
military and diplomatic operations in Iraq and Afghanistan into next spring.

Conservative "Blue Dog" Democrats blocked a vote last week over
Democratic leaders' attempts to add an additional $51.8 billion over
the next decade for veterans education to the $183.8 billion war
funding tab. They insisted on finding a way to pay for the new benefit
without simply adding to the deficit.

"What we're talking about is a one-half percent income tax surcharge on incomes above $1 million," said Rep. Mike Ross,
D-Ark., a leader of the Blue Dog group. "So someone who earns $2
million a year would pay $5,000. ...
They're not going to miss it."

This isn't a simple "I make so much money that I won't miss $5,000", it's much more then that. It shows you the mindset of Democrats who seem to think of the wealthy, and often times all Americans, as their own personal piggy bank to fork over money for pet projects that buy votes.

I don't care if you're Bill Gates, $5,000 is a lot of money. They certainly wouldn't DARE to put forth a plan that would tax everyone equally, so it's in fashion to pick the wealthy one's pockets. Now at least some "blue dog" Democrats are smart enough to find a way to pay for it without going further into debt, but I have a radical idea that just might work:

STOP SPENDING SO MUCH MONEY.

Is it really that hard to see that you're spending too much money? You mean to tell me that your thoughts of grand plans never once include "maybe I should cut X program to pay for Y program"? How dumb are you? When I ask my wife for something expensive, the first thing I do is tell her how I plan on paying for it. Usually, it's "I found a way to cut X amount of money out of our budget, so that pays for what I want."

If it's good enough for everyone else's household, it's good enough for the US government.

And this isn't even about paying for veteran benefits. Everyone is for giving these folks as much benefits as possible. I'm more then happy to pay for a soldier's free ride to Harvard or any other school he or she would like to go to. However, I want that if my taxes are going up, EVERYONE'S taxes are going to go up. I'm about fairness.

That's 0.5% increase in taxes should be for everyone, including teenagers working at the local Taco Bell. If that means they pay an extra penny or two in taxes, then "they aren't going to miss it" now are they?

The idea earned support from House leaders at a late afternoon meeting of top Democrats, including Speaker Nancy Pelosi of California.

Well of course it's got Nancy's support, she's got ratings that are in the toilet for her complete line of bullshit she fed to voters "getting rid of the culture of corruption" anyone? Plus, California is so far into debt, I don't see how they are going to dig themselves out without massive cuts in spending. If her own back yard is in such shambles, how are we to know if it's a good bill? She obviously doesn't know shit about finances.
