Bush disappointed with intel before Iraq war

President Bush
said Tuesday he was disappointed in "flawed intelligence" before the
Iraq war and was concerned that if a Democrat wins the presidency in
November and withdrew troops prematurely it could "eventually lead to
another attack on the United States."

In
an interview with Politico magazine and Yahoo News, Bush also said he
gave up golf in 2003 out of respect for U.S. soldiers killed in the
war, which has now lasted more than five years
.

"I didn't want some mom whose son may have recently died to see the
commander in chief playing golf," he said. "I feel I owe it to the
families to be in solidarity as best as I can with them. And I think
playing golf during a war just sends the wrong signal.
"

Disappointed? Gave up golf? What kind of lame fucking excuses is that? I'm more then willing to give the guy the benefit of the doubt, and previous President's as well, as it is a tough job, where any decision you make effects the world, but let's be real here.

Almost all intelligence agencies said that Saddam had weapons of mass destruction. However, Russian intelligence showed that Saddam was planning on terrorist attacks inside the US. They shared that intel with us, and it was one more reason for going to war. However, Saddam needed to go. He had too many "what ifs" around him and with all of the cogs of war meshing in perfectly, Saddam should have taken up the offer to leave Iraq in 48 hours that Bush offered before the start of the war.

Had he done so, he'd probably still be alive today. But that's neither here nor there.

I'm more pissed about the "giving up golf" bit. Yes, playing golf during a war does send the wrong signal, but how about you just keep that bit to yourself? How about you forgo all vacations until this war is wrapped up and Iraq is stable? You know, like doing your job? Giving up golf? That just boggles my mind in how ridiculous it sounds.

However, he's dead on about Jimmy Carter's "blame Israel for every problem" bit. Even today Islamic Jihad fired a rocket that hit a shopping center and injured 14 people. These are the same kind of people that Jimmy wants to sit down with. Yet, he won't denounce them for injuring and murdering innocent people, who's only crime was they were at the wrong place at the wrong time.

However, the Republican party is in a mess right now because of breaks within core beliefs. Bush doesn't appear to be taking the war in Iraq seriously enough, and now some Republicans are adding pork to an upcoming spending bill because the economy is on everyone's mind.

Sometimes when you go awry, it's best to stop, take a look at your core beliefs, and get back to basics. This is one of those times.
