August 6th, 1945

Today is the 62nd anniversary of the first atomic bomb explosion over Hiroshima. Here's an excellent bit on the event from a documentary:

What people don't understand is, that even with the human factor, when you see people's faces and feelings, had I been President during 9/11, I was angry enough to unleash the hell that a nuclear weapon would unfurl had the Taliban not given up Osama. I simply would have said "you have 24 hours to hand him over....or else" That's how angry I was and still am to this day over 9/11. The attack on Pearl Harbor killed less people and was mainly restricted to military targets. 9/11 was different for me and a lot of other people. Regardless of your point of view, you have to admit that you have to be pretty angry to order the killing of 90,000+ people in retaliation. Many of the citizens of Afghanistan probably don't deserve an atomic blast to end their lives, but neither did Kevin Cosgrove:

An eye for an eye leaves us all blind - Ghandi said that. But revenge would make me feel much better and would let terrorists know : "Never screw with America"

As a side note: in the atomic video, when the man on sitting on the stairs is vaporized, please note, that part was true as shown in the photo below:
