Fat Chance

Family members of the Tiananmen Square massacre in China want the Chinese government to publish the truth, apologize, and pay compensation to those that they slaughtered. Sorry to say this, but there's no way in hell that's going to happen. I mean, check the nerve on this statement:

The Beijing city government at the time put the death toll at more than 200 while insisting that no one died on the square itself. But independent groups have estimated that hundreds, perhaps thousands, died. China has said the crackdown was necessary to put down a counter-revolutionary rebellion.

Let's not forget that most of China hasn't even heard of this massacre. The Chinese government has tried vigorously to hide this event in their history books. So for them to do an about face and admit it, apologize for it, and pay for it, just simply isn't going to happen.

People were run over with tanks, which shredded them. People were shot, beaten, and murdered outright by their own government. This wasn't even a case of a rogue government agent who went berserk and started killing people. This was a massacre on a very high level. As long as there are people in power who were responsible for this, you aren't going to hear much from the Chinese government over the matter.

As a side note, for all of you out there who think we live in a "police state" because of George W. Bush, take a gander at China. They make us look like rookies in the "police state" arena.
