Dr. Jack Kevorkian is set to be released from prison in June. I'm actually glad he's getting out of jail. I think that people do have the right to end their lives in the way they want. If someone is in pain or has less then a year or so to live, let them end life on their terms. It's not my business if they want to take a lethal cocktail of drugs or put a bullet in their heads. If I'm terminally ill and in pain, you can bet your sweet ass that I will be giving away my family's inheritance, saying goodbye to loved ones, and putting my mouth over a shotgun.
No one has the right to tell me to deal with the pain of an illness or injury. Self righteous types can go fuck themselves on that note. If Jack wants to help people end their lives, I really don't see a problem with that. If an animal is suffering, you put it down. So why is it any different for humans? Why should I suffer for another 6 months or a year all the while being a burden on my family? Better yet, why should a family member go to jail for helping end a loved ones life if they so choose? I can see if it were questionable whether a person wanted to die or not, but if someone made a video tape and said "I want to die, and my wife/cousin/brother, is going to help me do it and I give them permission to end my life", where's the harm?
