God how I hate whiners. When a school girl has her cell phone confiscated in class because it was ringing and told she can get it 5 days later, the police have to get involved? The rule was in the student handbook, so therefore she had to have known not to bring a cell phone into the classroom. If you do, there are consequences. This is the problem with "Helicopter Parents". They get so involved in their children's lives that they don't allow the children to deal with consequences of their actions by themselves so they can grow up to be responsible adults. Instead, children now have the mindset of "I'll just call my mom and dad and they'll show you a thing or two".
Just once, I'd love to see a video of a parent dealing with a school official in this situation and see the school official declare "I can plainly see that your parenting skills are the root cause of your child being a spoiled brat. Perhaps if you were a better parent, we wouldn't be having this conversation." I'd have to buy that school official a beer. :) Kids no a days don't seem to understand just how good they have it. When I was growing up, if you were at the principals office, your parents first asked "what did you do". Not "what did the school official do". Plus, teachers had the right to spank your little ass with a wooden paddle if you got out of line, even in front of the class, pants down.
