With product safety in question, China has executed a drug safety chief for bribery. China knows that if people start to see the questionable human rights abuses and shoddy workmanship, or even product safety problems, that other countries will move their operations to other, cheaper nations.
If that were to happen, China's economy would take a drastic hit. They are using this as an example to everyone to take business seriously.
