Democrats and Republicans alike are pissed at the notion that the Iraqi parliament could take upwards of a 2 month vacation while our guys are dodging bullets and helping build schools. To tell you the truth, I agree. When your country is in the shape that it is in, you need to work around the clock to fix the problems that you have. Easing tensions between warring factions of various groups, getting infrastructure up and running, and getting people jobs are all key to making Iraq a much more livable place.
I wrote about this months ago. I wrote that if a person has a job and is providing for his family, he won't want to attack others. He'll want to come home to his wife and children and enjoy the life he builds for himself. Add in the heat and no air conditioning makes for a nasty attitude. Build up your electrical infrastructure, give away air conditioning units (the small windowed ones will be fine) and get people back to work and Iraq will turn around in no time.
