Only state lawmakers can enact firearms laws in Pennsylvania. But with 137 homicides in Philadelphia so far this year, Councilman Darrell Clarke said the city had to do something.
"It's utterly ridiculous where we are right now. It's an aberration when somebody doesn't get killed," Clarke said. "We can't wait any longer."
The council approved measures Thursday that would limit gun purchases to one a month and require gun owners to promptly report lost or stolen firearms.
So you're telling me that criminals will only be allowed to legally purchase one gun per month? You're telling me that criminals will now have to report lost or stolen firearms? That's the dumbest thing I've heard from the gun control folks in a long time. Since only state legislators can pass gun control laws, this is likely to get overturned and lawsuits will be filed. These council members knew that they couldn't pass this law legally. They knew that lawsuits would be filed, wasting valuable tax payer's money and the court's time.
Politicians who do this are the reason why government spending is so high. There is absolutely no reason why they shouldn't have to foot the bill over the obvious lawsuits that will come because of their actions. They don't even bother to address the root problem, criminals with guns. Law abiding citizens are the ones getting hurt here. It's like me saying that all new cars should have a speed limit of 10 mph because someone was going 90 mph and killed someone. It doesn't fix anything.
When is someone going to call these people on their bullshit? This is a frivolous law and these council people should pay for it because of their idiocy.
