I don't know about you, but how about some people calling Rosie on her line of bullshit? For example:
Rosie: "Why do people enlist in the Army"
Ricki Lake: "To get an education and they are poor and that's the only way to get an education"
Wrong Rosie and Rickie. People enlist for hundreds of reasons, education is one of them however. Duty, honor, sense of belonging, education, can retire after 20 years instead of 30, the list goes on and on. But let's continue with your line of thinking.
Elizabeth: "The testing scores of our armed services has never been higher"
Rosie: "You are wrong."
99.95 percent of the enlisted force have at least a high school education; 73.5 percent have some semester hours toward a college degree; 16.4 percent have an associate's degree or equivalent semester hours; 4.8 percent have a bachelor's degree; 0.8 percent have a master's degree and .01 percent have a professional or doctorate degree.
That's just the Air Force. So Rosie, YOU are wrong.
Rosie: "We have more convicted felons"
That's partially correct. There are "moral waivers" for the military, however they won't allow someone who's been convicted of violent crimes in. Period. If someone was convicted of having say a felonious amount of weed, they may get a moral waiver, but someone convicted of beating their wife wouldn't.
Rosie: "I do everything I can to support the troops financially and emotionally. I love them as much as you do."
That's bullshit Rosie. You think you undermining their mission, telling them that they are uneducated and poor is "supporting" them? That's just a catch phrase you use because you don't want the world to know you and other liberals like you don't really "support the troops".
Elizabeth: "Do you understand that there are troops that are there that believe they should be there?"
This is the good part. Watch Rosie's response.
Rosie: "Yes, I do. It's their job in the military to follow orders, not to question. And that's their job."
That's not what she said Rosie. She said they "believe they should be there", not "they don't question they should be there" The people on the ground know better then anyone what the situation is like and when you have soldier after soldier telling you that they need to be there, liberals don't like that one bit and try to deflect those soldier's opinions.
Rosie: "They signed up because they believe in the American dream"
Wait. Just 30 seconds ago you said they signed up for an education and they were poor and that was the ONLY reason.
Rosie: "They can't get to college unless they sign up."
Good God my fingers are getting tired from pointing out all the flaws with her though process. Rosie, let me be perfectly clear: THAT'S NOT THE ONLY WAY YOU CAN GET A COLLEGE EDUCATION IN AMERICA. Grants, loans, internships, parents, military, and more are all ways a person can get a college education paid for in America.
The military is a great way to pay for college because A) I'd hire someone with a military background over a non military background if all things being equal. and B) The military pays for everything you need PLUS gives you money for college. It's an easy way financially rather than if someone was working part time at McDonalds and saving their money for school.
Rosie: "Do they deserve to be killed because of George Bush's money"
This shows you the level of whackjob that Rosie really is. She honestly believes that the Iraq war was all about George Bush's money. Nevermind liberals voted for the Iraq war because they believed that Saddam was a threat. Nevermind that they saw the same intelligence that Republicans saw and CAME TO THE SAME CONCLUSION. It's all about George Bush's money.
Elizabeth: "I have friends over there who believe that good work is being done and that they wish that politicians in this world and people in this world would give this surge a chance"
Rosie: "So do I" in reference to her stating she has friends in Iraq.
Really Rosie? Who? Because I find it VERY hard to believe that you're friends with a soldier over in Iraq.
Here's an edited version of that video that really drives home my point.
