So a guy coming into our country with 124lbs of explosives doesn't deserve a 22 year sentence? Sure, they could opt not to reduce the sentence, even though he's been "startlingly helpful", according to the judge, but come on, you can't tell me he doesn't deserve to get out of jail before he's an old man. He attempted to bomb LAX, a place where 60 million people go through each year. At least the dissenting appeals judge said 22 years was "unreasonable" and asked that the sentence be tougher. What the hell does a guy have to do to deserve a sentence longer then that? We've put people in jail for much longer for doing much less.
