Ok, I admit it. Sometimes I like to be a jerk and say "I told you so". But, I told you so. Hugo Chavez has threatened to take over Venezuela's banking and steel industries because of "unscrupulous practices".
"Private banks have to give priority to financing the industrial sectors of Venezuela at low cost," Chavez said. "If banks don't agree with this, it's better that they go, that they turn over the banks to me, that we nationalize them and get all the banks to work for the development of the country and not to speculate and produce huge profits."
If you think foreign investors will sink one dime into that country now, you're sadly mistaken Chavez. People don't like being told how to run their businesses. They certainly don't like them being forcefully taken from them after they've worked hard at building that business.
