It's sad to see a solider dishonor himself and his fellow soldier by committing a crime of this nature. But he will pay for it for the next 18 years. While I can fully appreciate the way things can spin out of control on the battlefield, the military does have strict rules of engagement and if those are broken, they then become criminal offenses. Sure, if I came under fire and I thought someone knew something that would save me and my fellow soldiers, I have no idea how I'd react.
