From The "About Damned Time" Department

The House has now gotten it's ass in gear over F-14 aircraft parts being sold on the market, which is where Iran is snapping them up in a hurry. I wrote about this in January, but they are now getting on the ball about it. I just can't believe that it even needs to be said or done. Military parts that are no longer needed should be melted down and recycled or destroyed. It's that simple.

If an ally needs these parts, fine, sell them the parts. But can any of you name a legitimate reason why a military aircraft's parts need to be going on sale anywhere? I could understand if say a billionaire bought one that was demilitarized, but sales should be restricted to him and the part that is being sold to them should have a "core" returned upon the sale just like an auto part.

Am I the asshole here? Am I the only one doing the thinking? Military parts are for the military.
