Democrats May Give In

There's rumors going around that Democrats are pushing a military spending budget that does NOT have a timeline in it, however it did add an increase for minimum wage. If the rumors are true, it would mean that the Democrats have seriously undercut themselves just to avoid the perception that they are not supporting the troops. While we all know that Democrats don't really support the military, the perception is worse because it would show even their own rank and file members that they are hypocrites.

What's worse is that when election time comes around, they are likely to lose votes because they promised to end the war, even going so far as to cut funding for it, yet they did the exact opposite. This further cements the stereotype that they will do what keeps them in power rather than doing what's right.

The budget that includes a minimum wage hike also includes tax breaks for those who hire minimum wage workers. This will help offset the amount of price increases that you and I will face for our everyday items. However, individual businesses might decide to take the tax breaks and still charge more for goods and services.

Still, I'd rather Shay (a soldier I know in Afghanistan) get better gear and weapons than me having to pay $30 bucks for a pizza. It's a tradeoff that I know will help me sleep better at night.
