Kenneth Lay's Convictions Wiped Clean

Now this is disheartening. Basically, there's a law that states if a person dies, but has not been sentenced, their conviction is wiped clean because the appeals part has not been gone through completely. While this ruling is lawfully correct, it does not feel right for the thousands of peoples lives that were ruined under his watch. People lost their entire retirement. Many people will have to work well up until their 80's to get it all back. I remember a grandfather talking about coming out of retirement because he made promises to his grandchildren to pay for their college educations. Being a man of his word, I can only imagine how devastated he must feel now that he has to come up with 10's of thousands of dollars for each grandchild.

The only thing that people now can do, is file a civil suit against Kenneth Lay's estate. However, after taxes, lawyer fees, and such, how much do you really think each person is going to get? Not nearly enough to cover grand children's college, I'll bet.
