I'm confused. What does Hillary think she's going to do to force oil companies to eat $8 billion? What does she think she's going to do when they tell her "no"? With the "gas tax holiday", who's to say that the savings have to be passed onto consumers?
The plan is simple: Offer a bounty for electric/renewable resources cars.
For example: Offer say $10 billion to the first car company that can put together a car that gets 100+ miles to the charge/refill, passes ALL safety tests, and costs less than $25,000.
You simply HAVE to force the hands of companies who have been dragging their feet on renewable resource using cars. If you don't, we'll all be paying through the nose for gas until it's too late.
First car company that can do the above mentioned car, can count me as their first customer.
Until that time, I'm hypermiling, and I have turned my 2005 Civic EX from 31-33mpg to 46mpg with some BASIC changes in my driving habits. I haven't even changed my routes that I take to and from work.
