Iraq Wants Security In Place By Year's End

Iraq hopes to have security control of all its provinces by the year-end, the national security adviser said on Wednesday, underscoring the government's growing confidence in its own forces.

Mowaffaq al-Rubaie was speaking at a ceremony where U.S.-led troops transferred security responsibilities for the southern Shi'ite Qadisiya province to Iraqi forces.

The handover puts Baghdad in control of security in 10 of the country's 18 provinces, all mainly Shi'ite or Kurdish areas.

Well good!  That's what they're supposed to be doing!  If you want to get us out of there, and I assume you do, get going on your security situation.  Once you're up and running, we're outta there.  Simple as that.

Of course, with the war winding down, watch Democrats try to take credit for it if they win the Presidency and some seats in Congress.  Because all the hard work that's been done now, I'm willing to place a wager that some will try to take credit for things they didn't do such as Harry Reid saying "the war in Iraq is lost".
