Wounded warriors face home-front battle with VA - CNN.com

This is completely unacceptable.  This man served his country and the best thing we can do for him is to make sure that he's taken care of.

If the VA is sincere in taking care of veteran's, cases like this simply wouldn't fall through the cracks.

Instead, he got a check for far less than expected. After pressing for answers, Ziegel finally received a letter from the VA that rated his injuries: 80 percent for facial disfigurement, 60 percent for left arm amputation, a mere 10 percent for head trauma and nothing for his left lobe brain injury, right eye blindness and jaw fracture.

Take a good, hard look at this man.  Take a look at his injuries and tell me he doesn't deserve 100% disability.

I'm more pissed that it takes public shaming to get the VA to do something about it:

Within 48 hours of telling his story to CNN this summer, the Office of then-VA Secretary Jim Nicholson acted on Ziegel's case. The VA changed his head trauma injury, once rated at 10 percent, to traumatic brain injury rated at 100 percent, substantially increasing his monthly disability check.

Ok, so this guy is fighting with the VA for 2 years and then after some public humility, they take care of the issue within 48 FUCKING HOURS??!

Tyler Ziegel, Tammy Duckworth, Garrett Anderson, and all other soldiers going through this, I humbly apologize for the VA's behavior and thank you for your service.  What they are doing to you is simply unacceptable.

If you agree with me, feel free to let your opinion known by writing to the VA at the address below:
