Intelligence officials are softening their attitudes towards North Korea and it's nuclear program. They are openly wondering what would have happened if we had not confronted North Korea about it's weapons program in 2002. Do they think that if we had done nothing that it would have gone away? Bill Clinton made a deal with them in 1994 that they admittedly broke. I'm irritated that they get any kind of deal at all. Yes, they are stating that they are going to give up their program, but we've heard that before.
Yes we got the desired result, a nuclear free Korean peninsula, but at what cost? They now think that they can just bully their way into whatever they want. I say starve the North Korean government of everything. Sanction everything and let them REALLY feel what it's like to try to stab the US in the back. Now they've pretty much gotten what they want and we've appeared to have gotten what we want, but do you think we can trust them now? It's pretty obvious that North Korea will try to do whatever it takes to get ahead and if they back out of this deal, I say we punish them with long term economic sanctions and covert action against their nuclear program.
