Mashaal offers truce if Israel withdraws from 1967 lands

If Jimmy Carter couldn't look more like an idiot, I'd be hard pressed to find an example.  Check this out:

DAMASCUS, Syria - The leader of Hamas says his Palestinian militant group is offering Israel a 10-year truce if it withdraws from all lands it seized in the 1967 war.

Khaled Mashaal says he made the offer to former President Carter in talks on Saturday.

Mashaal says Hamas would accept a Palestinian state limited to the lands Israel seized in 1967 — an implicit acceptance that Israel would exist alongside that state.

But Mashaal says the group would never outright formally recognize Israel.Former President Jimmy Carter pauses during a speech in Jerusalem April 21, 2008, after talks in Syria and Egypt with Hamas leaders. REUTERS/Ronen Zvulun

So, they're offering only a 10 year truce if Israel withdraws?  And they won't recognize Israel at all?  Wow!  What a fucking deal Jimmy has procured!  Why doesn't he just tell Hamas that they still have the inherent right to bomb innocent civilians?

Of course, here's the icing on the cake:

The former president also said Monday that he would never sit down with Al Qaeda because the terror network has no "redeeming features."

So do tell Mr. Carter, tell us all with your infinite wisdom, what is Hamas' "redeeming features"?  Bombing innocent people?  Inciting hatred?  Do tell!

"[Al Qaeda] are not involved in any sort of a fruitful process. They are not recognized by their own people," Carter told FOX News in an interview Monday. "On the other hand, you have to remember Hamas in an honest and open and fair and transparent election were elected the leaders of the Palestinian government."

Yes of course they are.  "open and fair and transparent" is a characteristic that you find in all terrorist organizations.  Otherwise, they'd be barbarians right?

Carter claimed his meetings with Hamas and Syrian leaders weren't meant to circumvent the Bush administration, nor was it an attempt to formally negotiate with Hamas.

"I'm not undermining anything. I'm not negotiating. ... I'm just here representing myself and the Carter Center. No one else," he said. "My decision was just to talk to people who must be involved in the final peace agreement.

So if you're not there to negotiate and you're not there to circumvent, then why are you there stupid?  All you did was lend credibility to a terrorist organization and give them propaganda.  Good job moron.

In the past, Hamas officials have said they would establish a "peace in stages" if Israel were to withdraw to the frontiers it held before the 1967 Mideast War. But it has been evasive about how it sees the final borders of a Palestinian state, and has not abandoned its official call for Israel's destruction.

See?  You've accomplished nothing except to give them good publicity for fools.

Israel says Carter's talks embolden Palestinian extremists and hurt Palestinian moderates as they try to make peace with the Jewish state. Abbas, who rules only the West Bank, is in a bitter rivalry with Hamas.

"The problem is not that I met with Hamas in Syria," Carter said Monday. "The problem is that Israel and the United States refuse to meet with someone who must be involved."

No, the problem is that you're giving people who murder innocent people the belief that they should have a say in matters, when they should be eradicated.
