At the Democratic debate in Philadelphia last night, Clinton was asked if she would bring the troops home "no matter what," even if that meant destabilizing the country.
Clinton said yes, promising to do so responsibly and with a strong diplomatic effort in the region.
"Our professional military are the best in the world," she said. "They give their best advice. And then they execute the policies of the president."
So, after 4,000 dead, tens of thousands wounded, BOTH Hillary and Obama want to just give up and go home? They want all that sacrifice, pain, and death to be in vain?
If General Petraeus said "We've made tremendous gains, and the Iraqi's are ok to take over", I'll be the first one to say "well, pack it up boys, you're coming home". But the fact is, he hasn't said that. In fact, he has said that there have been gains that are "reversible".
And since Obama says that the "buck stops here" when referring to himself as President, what does he do if those achievements are reversed?
This is the exact thing I'm talking about with Democrats. They have a sense of superiority over everyone else. They ignore the advice of experts in the field and seem to believe that they know better then someone who's been doing a job for decades, and then they have the nerve to make it look like they were right all along, when it's proven they weren't (Bill Clinton and Osama come to mind).
At least Obama has the decency to say that he'd listen to a change in tactics. Hillary basically has said she doesn't give a shit and will start pull back everyone within 60 days.
But what I really think this is, is it's a power play for the hard left anti-war crow that Hillary needs so badly. She's trailing to the point where it's almost mathematically impossible for her to win the Democratic nomination. This is a "hail Mary" throw that she hopes will win her over the people's vote that she so desperately needs.
Unfortunately for her, her opponent Obama has a track record of cautiously opposing the war in Iraq before it happened, but she fails to put forth the effort to point out that he never had the pressure of having to actually vote on it.
Hillary isn't going to win folks. She is going to say and do whatever it takes to get the nomination, even if it's a cut and dried answer like "I don't care what our men say, I'm doing it my way".
