Iran's hard-line President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad cast doubt over the United States' version of the September 11 attacks on Wednesday, calling them a pretext used to invade Afghanistan and Iraq.
Although Iran has condemned the 2001 al Qaeda attacks on New York and Washington in the past, this was the third time in a week that Ahmadinejad questioned the death toll, who was behind the attacks and how it happened.
"Four or five years ago, a suspicious event occurred in New York. A building collapsed and they said that 3,000 people had been killed but never published their names," Ahmadinejad told Iranians in the holy city of Qom.
Under this pretext, the U.S. "attacked Afghanistan and Iraq and since then a million people have been killed only in Iraq," Ahmadinejad said in the speech broadcast live on state-run television.
Does anyone else seem to think that this nut job should stay in power and that he should have access to nuclear facilities??
There are literally THOUSANDS of lists on the internet, showing the names of each and every person killed in those attacks.
Yet, this guy wants to come to our country, give a pretty speech, make America look like the world bad guy, and then he insults us like this? Maybe I pine for the old days, but didn't the CIA used to kill people like this? Sure, they fucked up the Castro hit a million ways from Sunday, but when you have such a direct threat and such taunting, sooner or later, you have to swat the fly that's bothering you.
And Ahmadinejad knows that a good portion of the American public is gun shy because of the war in Iraq, and that's why they are pushing for their nuclear weapons program now instead of a few years ago when we were feared.
Perhaps it's time we brought that fear back into despots.
