An inmate who tried to escape from the Johnston Correctional Institution around noon Tuesday was shot and killed by a guard after ignoring several commands to stop, North Carolina Corrections officials said.
Inmate Adeline Najer, who was serving a 10-year sentence for a second-degree murder in Stokes County, had scaled two fences surrounding a building next to the prison when he was shot.
At first, I was thinking that this prison guard was in trouble, but nope, North Carolina doesn't mess around when it comes to it's prisoners:
State law allows corrections officers to use deadly force to stop an escaping felon, officials said.
I won't be shedding any tears for this guy:
Najera was convicted of killing Lois Kassel in 2000, in Danbury.
Looks like the Kassel family will sleep a little better at night though.
