Holy crap, this guy is a judge! He argues that many people in jail for murder may actually die in jail and that they are no longer a danger to society. Therefore, they should be released from jail.
Let’s break this down. Say, God forbid, that your loved one is murdered. Shot, stabbed, or any other way you can end someone’s life. You will no longer be able to have a conversation with them. You will never see them grow old, have children, grandchildren. Your memory of them will fade when you grow older until they are erased from existence. Now, should the person who ended that persons life be allowed to rebuild their own? Why should a person who killed another, be allowed to grow old and feel the grass underneath their feet? Why should they be allowed to re-establish relationships with their loved ones outside of jail? They hunted down and killed a person and that makes them a threat to society, regardless of age.
