Pentagon Limits Nancy Pelosi's Plane Size

I can understand that the Speaker of the House needs a special aircraft. But it's really telling when Mrs. Pelosi is asking for a plane capable of non stop flights across the country with enough room to accommodate a small army of people. If you have to refuel, who give a shit? Many lawmakers use commercial aircraft and sit with us regular folks. They deal with delayed flights, lost luggage and more.

In addition, the letter stipulates that the Air Force will only fly her between Washington and her San Francisco district and places limits on who can travel with her. The Washington Times reported earlier this week that the Pentagon denied a request by Mrs. Pelosi to fly on a military aircraft to last weekend's Democratic retreat in Williamsburg, a two-hour drive from Washington.
"Non-governmental personnel, i.e. political supporters and contributors, may not fly," the congressional source said yesterday, paraphrasing the letter sent to Mrs. Pelosi. "The plane may not ferry her to any political events and other members may only accompany her after approval by the House ethics committee, which means Republicans would have to OK it."

"Just because she's second in line to be president does not entitle her to a military taxi service around the United States," the source said."

This is exactly right. She does have the right to use the aircraft they give her for business reasons. A weekend retreat isn't for business, and therefore, she can't use the plane. Looks like she's already trying to turn it into a party plane.
