Hillary Clinton’s campaign spokesman said Monday that Barack Obama was not yet prepared to serve as commander-in-chief – but might be able to cross that threshold in time to join the Democratic ticket this summer as a vice presidential candidate.
Over the weekend, Hillary Clinton, former President Bill Clinton and campaign surrogate, Pennsylvania Gov. Ed Rendell, all suggested that Barack Obama might make a good vice president.
On a conference call with reporters and several prominent military supporters of Clinton’s presidential bid, spokesman Howard Wolfson was asked: if Obama is not ready to lead in times of crisis, how can he be considered for the vice presidency?
“We do not believe that Senator Obama has passed the commander in chief test,” said Wolfson. “But there is a long way between now and Denver.”
I simply could not make something like that up folks. I think it's my deep seated view that my political opponents somehow have a mediocre amount of intelligence. I like to think that Democrats are an intelligent breed, and that we simply have differing political ideals. Then something like this happens.
Yes, they are actually suggesting that Barack Obama isn't ready to be President, but could be ready for the Vice Presidential slot in a few months. As if there's some sort of "Vice Presidency 101" at the local community college that Obama could take.
This is back peddling at it's finest. I fail to see how Hillary can surround herself with people who make such elementary school mistakes in the political arena.
Hillary is actually starting to think that people will fall for this line of bullshit. She's mistakenly thought that the previous tactics that worked years ago, will work now. Unfortunately for her, we have the Internet and we have documentation of just about everything that has ever been publicly said by her or Bill. So we can point out the hypocritical or idiotic nature of her statements almost instantaneously.
You're sinking fast Hillary, and you have significant odds to overcome. Stop treating voters like they are idiots, or you're not going to be even close to the nomination.
