Pelosi calls Iraq a 'failure'

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) said Nancy Pelosi twice Sunday that Iraq “is a failure,” adding that President Bush’s troop surge has “not produced the desired effect.”
“The purpose of the surge was to create a secure time for the government of Iraq to make the political change to bring reconciliation to Iraq,” Pelosi said on CNN’s “Late Edition.” “They have not done that.”

The speaker hastened to add: “The troops have succeeded, God bless them.”

Anchor Wolf Blitzer asked: “Are you not worried, though, that all the gains that have been achieved over the past year might be lost?”
“There haven't been gains, Wolf,” the speaker replied. “The gains have not produced the desired effect, which is the reconciliation of Iraq. This is a failure. This is a failure. The troops have succeeded, God bless them. We owe them the greatest debt of gratitude for their sacrifice, their patriotism, and for their courage and to their families as well.

Sounds pretty bad right?  But wait a minute, violence levels are at an all time low, and even Al-Qaeda in Iraq is saying that they are all but defeated.

Wasn't this the same woman who said that she'd get rid of the "culture of corruption", then promoted William Jefferson, a suspected corrupt politician within her own political party?  Oh she asked him to resign, but then she turned around and promoted him to a position with access to classified materials.  Isn't this the same woman who promised that Congress would work a 5 day work week?  Out of a 52 work week year, they are only working about 30 of those as 5 day work weeks.  And that's TENATIVE.

So, you'll have to excuse me if I don't quite believe the bullshit that's coming from Nancy Pelosi's hypocritical mouth.  And, judging by the latest poll numbers, neither do the rest of America.
