Political Correctness Goes Awry....Again

So China has banned the "Year Of The Pig" ads on state run TV because it might offend people?

This cartoon pig used in Tenlow's ads would hardly seem subversive. But CCTV has ordered major advertising agencies not to use pig images, cartoons or slogans "to avoid conflicts with ethnic minorities." That's a reference to China's 20 million Muslims, about 2 percent of the country's population.

So China is now allowing 2 percent of its population to dictate what can and can't be seen on TV? That'd be like not showing The Jefferson reruns because it might offend KKK members. It's ridiculous and needs to stop, even in China. I respect people's rules when I go into their majority ruled domain, they should respect the same when they go into others. For example, when I travel to Japan, I respect the norms of the Japanese culture. I'm significantly larger then most Japanese people, so I already stand out in a crowd, but I remove my shoes when asked, I stand when an elder comes into a room, and other cultural sensitive things. I don't get offended or ask my hosts to do things my way simply because it's my way. That's called being a dick.
