So one of the Supreme Court Justices thinks that they should "promote the political rights of minorities and look beyond the Constitution's text when necessary to ensure that "no one gets too powerful."" It's that the exact opposite of what a justice of the Supreme court should be doing? They should be interpreting the Constitution, not adding or setting agenda's. The problem is that Justice's of the Supreme Court are employed for life, therefore if they decide to become activist judges, there's not a lot you can do about it. If they do something unethical or illegal, then you might be able to get them out, but for them to stray from their primary job makes them "too powerful".
