The Senate has passed $165 billion to fund the war in Iraq until President Bush's successor takes over.
The 70-26 vote came just minutes after a majority of Republicans voted to add tens of billions of dollars for veterans college aid and extending unemployment benefits to the war funding bill.
When Democrats decry the war in Iraq, you can push this into their faces. 70-26?? That's not voting with your conscience, that's voting because you're afraid of being portrayed as not supporting the troops with the equipment they need.
That means you are weak. That means you are playing politics on an important issue. That means you're not fit to be a member of Congress.
Here's a list of the "yeas"
Quite a few "D"'s in that list. You can make your own judgement on who's right and who's wrong.
But on a more personal note, notice who's not voting at all:
Hillary actually voted "no" on it. Her opponent Obama as well as John McCain couldn't be bothered to vote one way or another. If Hillary was smart, she would take Obama to task about this. She would say "I voted no to get our guys out of Iraq and you couldn't be bothered to do your job as a Senator".
THAT is the kind of politics I expect Hillary to do. But alas, she doesn't seem to get it and has all of her wind taken out of her sails. Perhaps if she bothered to look at his voting record, she might have found some cracks in his armor. At least that's what I would have told her to do if I was her advisor.....<shudder>
