U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon on Friday condemned as "offensively anti-Islamic" a Dutch lawmaker's film that accuses the Koran of inciting violence.
Ban acknowledged efforts by the government of the Netherlands to stop the broadcast of the film, which was launched by Islam critic Geert Wilders over the Internet, and appealed for calm to those "understandably offended by it."
"There is no justification for hate speech or incitement to violence," Ban said in a statement. "The right of free expression is not at stake here."
"Freedom must always be accompanied by social responsibility," Ban said.
I posted the video here on my site and I watched it. It is not NOT anti-Islamic, it is a reflection of how Muslims have allowed maniacs to carry out attacks on civilians in the name of their religion.
And Ban Ki-moon is merely trying to stem the rioting from savages who would allow a movie to influence them to the point where they decide to perpetuate violence against people who are trying to express their freedoms.
It's funny too, I don't hear Ban talking about the Muslim Imams who on a DAILY basis spit out hate speech against the Jews or Christians. It's simply a thing that must be tolerated.
If you're going to act like a hypocrite, you lose credibility to denounce.
Perhaps Muslims should take a harder look at themselves if they feel the need to riot over a movie like this.
I don't see Christians or Jews rioting in the streets after Islamic clerics call them "apes and pigs" and call for their deaths.
I don't see Christians and Jews threatening to cut the heads off of Muslims because of who they are on such a grand scale.
So to denounce this film is merely a transparent way to show that you're a coward towards violent Muslim extremists who've scared you into submission.
First they came for the Communists, and I didn’t speak up, because I wasn’t a Communist.
Then they came for the Jews, and I didn’t speak up, because I wasn’t a Jew.
Then they came for the Catholics, and I didn’t speak up, because I was a Protestant.
Then they came for me, and by that time there was no one left to speak up for me.
