Rice to host Libyan FM as former foes mend ties

Just a few years ago, such a thing wasn't even on the radar screen of both countries.  But now, Libya and the US are starting to warm up to one another.

Which is in stark contrast to what I thought and felt in 1988, when I turned on the tv and saw a commercial aircraft had been blown out of the sky around Christmas time.

What's even more amazing is that we found evidence of the bomb from a piece of a circuit board that was no bigger then the tip of your fingernail in a sea of debris several miles long.

It's been almost 20 years since that fateful flight, and while most people want peace, I'm extremely reluctant at this point simply because Libya has shown that they are willing to attack civilian targets.

It would be like if we normalized ties with Al-Qaeda.  Doesn't seem very likely at this point does it?
