Sino-U.S. Conflict Brews Over Climate Technology

The U.S. and China, long at odds over protecting intellectual property, are facing off in a new battleground at the U.N. conference on climate change in Bali, Indonesia.

China wants developed nations like the U.S. to share cutting-edge renewable-energy technology at reduced costs with the developing world to help poor nations reduce their dependence on fossil fuels.

But the idea is generating tensions with U.S. officials, because American companies don't want to sell this new technology at cut-rate prices, and they worry that innovative technologies could be illegally copied if they are deployed in China.

Exactly.  China doesn't want to pay for anything it doesn't have to, so why not try to push the US to not only share the technology that we developed, but then China can turn around and get the technology for free?

Here's a thought China:  You have trillions of dollars in reserves, why don't YOU pay for these programs to help third world nations if you care that deeply about them?

Or are you too greedy to "walk the walk"?

You don't seem to mind taking existing technologies from other nations, especially the US via illegal means, so why the hell should we help you look good to these countries?

If you want to play hardball with US companies in trying to steal their secrets via espionage, you can't complain when they give you a big "fuck you" when you ask politely.

Perhaps if you quit trying to screw every dime you can out of everyone around you, you'd have more friends in this world.
