While this is happening in schools, it really needs to be nipped in the butt before these kids get out into the real world. When a resume comes across my desk, I'd better not see "b4" "dis" "dat" or my own pet peeve "payed" instead of "paid". It immediate would get thrown into the garbage if I saw something like that. In the real world business environment, spelling counts and you'll have a tougher time in the workplace if you use such language. Granted, common spelling mistakes are fine, but blatant usage of letter combinations to replace words definitely doesn't fly in the real world.
