Sounds good on paper, but then he wants to spread those costs across various people and businesses. Um, excuse me, I don't want to pay for some idiot's triple bypass surgery because he decided that a deep fried twinkie would be a good breakfast every morning. I work hard at my job and I get health benefits for it.
If you are uninsured, you can get health insurance from the state. Why is it fair for you or I to have to pay extra just so someone can decide that they want to live less healthy because they know they will not have to worry about the hospital bill?
Besides, lots of people like to swoon about the Canadian healthcare system, but you can find multiple examples of people who were pushed back because it was decided that someone else needed treatment first. Our healthcare system works just fine the way it is. If I have an emergency, I go to the hospital, my insurance pays for it minus the co-pay and I'm out the door. If you don't have insurance, you can deduct medical expenses from your taxes. You can make payments to the hospital. There's many options people here have.
