So why is this even a story? So the new UN Chief Ban Ki-Moon thinks that member nations of the UN should decide on their own on the issue of the death penalty. Well no kidding, we've done that for years. The reason this is a news story is because of the official policy of the UN of opposing the death penalty. I'm glad this guy was man enough to say "you guys are smart enough to figure it out on your own". Because let's face it folks, some people just plainly deserve to die.
What's even funnier is that there's actually a paragraph in the article that states: "Ban then launched into a series of meetings with U.N. staff and surprised many when he walked into the staff cafeteria for lunch. He waited on line with his tray to pay for a meal of meat with rice and a bottle of water and ate with a few U.N. employees."
So it's news that this guy ate in the staff cafeteria?? My God, he's eating with the commoners! I'm most interested in his policies and leadership abilities more than anything.
