Rest In Peace Mr. Jacobs

Raymond Jacobs, believed to be the last surviving member of the group of Marines photographed during the original U.S. flag-raisingIwoJima_flag  on Iwo Jima during World War II, has died at age 82.

The iconic image of U.S. Marines raising the flag on Mount Suribachi in February 1945.

Jacobs died January 29 of natural causes at a Redding hospital, his daughter, Nancy Jacobs, told The Associated Press.

Whenever you want to say how America is turning into a fascist state, how we're "Germany in 1939" and other anti-American spewage, remember, there were men like Sgt. Jacobs that risked everything to make sure you could say those words in a free nation.

Enjoy that freedom.  Tell your spouse you love them.  Walk to the store, and notice that you're not accosted on your way to there.  Take your kids to the playground and know that you don't have to worry about bombs going off or the government trying to limit the amount of children you can "legally" have.

Remember, it's because of people like Sgt. Jacobs.
